Theres less developed countries / countries with a more lax attitude to drink driving - but 4 times over the limit?
As for your other points about tiredness, defects etc, I have just as much of an issue with them, it’s just they aren’t what this thread is about.
Blimey that as a quick prison sentance. Did I make the call yes, is it grassing maybe but it was not a decision taken lightly. I didnt even expect the police to stop him as how often do you see a traffic cop except after an accident has happened.
we are all fully aware of how many fataltilites there has been for hgv drivers in the last few months. The decision to make the call was after he almost wiped me out in my vehicle at the time 44 tonne loaded. Whats better the bloke being stopped or a knock from the local police knocking on your door giving you the news that someone or even your whole family have been wiped out by a drunk driver in a 44tonne killing machine. I was involved in a serious accident 3 years ago due to a idiot on the m25, result of that was six months of work, possible permanant damage to my back, loss of income and debt and my family being affected. And yet the other person got away with it as the police couldnt find them as they had driven of not realizing or possibly did realize the carnage they had left behind them. No im not a grass but when I saw the look of the young girl in her car scared as there was a truck right up her backside I knew something had to be done. Judge me and have your own opinion but ask yourself this what would you have done. I have been on the scene of many fatal accidents and being able to do anything and that is something I have to live with.

You see your first mistake was justifying yourself for grassing up this ■■■■■■■ idiot.
Even if you hadn’t had the accident you’ve described I would of rung old bill if I was I. Your position
Drink drive is probably the most selfish stupid thing you can do be it in a car a motorbike and especially in a lorry, anyone who disagrees with this statement ought to have their breathing privileges revoked
Pimpdaddy, you’re a bit different if agree with that but to condone or minimise the actions of this bloke is madness
One quick thought from me, what odds does it make where he’s from? Would it be ok for a UK driver to drive 4 times over the limit? I shouldn’t of thought so.
Well done Jediknight you probably saved someone’s life today.
Irrespective of nationality anyone who drives 4 times over the limit deserves to go down, trucking seems to be getting like my job as the majority or offenders now seem to come from the former communist block.
TT, the reason his nationality was mentioned was that is how it was reported by the police originally. Since then it also gives rise to the debate that he is banned from driving in the UK only, not other EU countries where his EU licence is un-affected. He has a ‘ghost’ UK licence where the points remain but he is free to return home and continue driving. This is something that annoys me and is a fundamental flaw in our sentencing system. That said, a custodial sentence was issued which is quite uncommon for a first offence.
I also agree with your comment that Jediknight doesn’t have to justify himself for making that call. I’d have done it without hesitation.
The system in the UK is flawed alright…

Do you think drink driving is ok? Maybe you should meet some families who’s lives have been destroyed by drink drivers. As you’ve gathered I am a bit…‘different’ let’s just say:lol:
I’ve travelled a bit & lived in different less developed countries during my up bringing, maybe that’s why things like this seem petty to me. Yes drink driving is unacceptable & can destroy lives but so can driving tired, adverse weather, poor/lack of skill/judgement l, defects & bad/overloads, ill health etc, why aren’t all those frowned upon…■■? British attitude hey…smh
There’s a big difference between being a bit over the limit & being 4 times over the limit, this guy very likely would have killed someone if he hadn’t been stopped, I couldn’t drive at 4 times over the limit, how you think that this is acceptable & the guy that shopped him to the cops is wrong is truly unbelievable.
Driving down a country road in Uzbekistan leathered is quite far removed from piloting an artic round the m25 leathered.

have you got statistics to back that up mate or is it just a guess?
Stopped M6 j44 yesterday. 4 times over the limit
@■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■: 1/2. 7pm yesterday we arrested a Turkish LGV driver who had been reported “all over the road” from D&G on the s/b M6. Stopped at jct 44 and-"
keys removed by another driver who had stopped due to his driving manner. The driver blew 131 at roadside, 4 x the limit.

How did the EU get mentioned when Turkey is not in the EU.If you had to sit in that Renault all year round, you would drink too.
How does Tnuk Csi prove that his Gran made some home made wine to give to the Turk for his many thousands of miles per year trips all over Europe, and Granny Turk has no idea how strong her parsnip or dandelion wine is.
He washes down his meal with it.Odd how many Brits were well over the limit getting on/off ferries with no bumps or crashes.
If I was 4 times over the limit, I doubt that I could even stand up, never mind anything else
And you did the right thing Jedi, in my book anyway - the traffic frequently comes to a standstill on the '25 - it’s very unlikely that chummy would have realised in time - it doesn’t bear thinking about.
Does his firm fly a driver in to unload/load the truck or do the Police keep it?
And I bet some posters who have posted tonight are 4 times over the limit

In the case of the M25 driver, truck was with police recovery contractors accruing storage fees daily. Owner has to arrange collecion of truck and load once all fees have been paid. I doubt they can afford to wait 16 weeks till the driver gets out the clink.
