i dont think it will make any difference. people seem to think all non gb trucks run bent, but just like i wont run bent incase i get caught in say poland and face a large fine the non gb trucks are the same. if they come here and run outside the law they are just as likely to be caught on the way back.
I originally posted this thread becouse I felt it just that foreign companies/drivers should be held accountable for their misdemeanors, in the same way we are when driving abroad. I have only been doing Euro since 1987 but in all that time Euro police have always had a “on the spot fine” system in place. The UK hasn’t and as a result only the most serious cases, serious enough to be held in custody, get dealt with. The more minor offences are dealt with by taking details of the company/driver etc, etc and is contacted at a later date to attend court, if at all, and would any respond if they were?
As for road tax, I’m thinking if we have to pay extra road tax to use some countries roads, hauliers from those countries should be charged extra road taxes to use ours.
Level the playing field, including fuel prices, by perhaps having a one card fits all, in all EU countries, sold at the same price in all EU countries.
