Coming up the M3 today, towards the roadworks at J4, in the roadworks and I look in the mirror, I’m in the middle lane, and there’s a DAF CF Rigid in the outside lane, creeping up alongside me. Now it’s a 6 wheel, rear steer, so I assume it’s a gross weight of around 24 tonne ?, anyway as he draws alongside I signal to him to lower his window, aas he does, I say " do you speak English?" It was a British registered vehicle, but there was something that made me assume on the side of caution, he said, with an accent, " yes some" so I says, do you know you are not allowed in the outside lane with a vehicle over 7.5 tonne, he says, " I’m empty" so I said, it doesn’t matter, whether you are empty or not, he says I don’t care, I always do it, never been stopped yet, bye, and off he went, there was nothing heated about it, we were both laughing, but it goes to show, if that was the attitude from one, well, I bet there are a lot that think like that.

I think like that too, and never been stopped for it. Especially doing night trunks up the M6, couple ahead side by side, quick look about, make a calculated descision and boommmppfffff!!
The irony being of course it was probably a perfectly safe overtaking manouvre till the lorry driver in the middle lane wanted a chat at 50mph…

The words “let VOSA/DVSA deal with it” didn’t get entertained!

What I was thinking.
Anybody remember that Norman Collier routine when he had the car window in his hand on stage, winding it down talking to the guy on a motorbike?..No?..Just me then
That’s what this reminded me of anyway .
Considering what state the M3 was today, I’m guessing he was in traffic.
