Ford transit pick up truck overweight!

On the m4 today just passed a scaffolders truck loaded up to the max!
Burning oil like hell travelling about 45mph , :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Scaffolders seem to be using these ford transits as trucks, :frowning: :astonished:
They simply dont take the weight! :unamused: :unamused:

I was on the limiter and i flew past ,   Thats 2 ive passed today the other 1 was a tesco DD! :open_mouth:

You will get a reputation…THE STIG …

I’ve got a weigher on my sprinter it’s great I wouldn’t be without it the piece of mind is great,it’s not massively accurate initially but the nearer to the top weight you get it comes to be with in 20kg .

I don’t think maestegboy would scalp your Sprinter Dan.
Cheers Dave.

As you know Dave the 16s hang in forever!

I do a collection from a ceramic tile showroom every day and the amount of folk you see determined to handball a full 1 ton pallet of tiles into their hatchbacks is frightening. Most usually realise it can’t be done when the arse end of their car is almost touching the tarmac, but some don’t.:astonished:

Transit are or used to be proper little work horses,

In the mid 80’s I worked for a builders merchant, we had a Wreg ■■■■■■ tipper 3.5ton, when the jcb loader broke down we’d load sand/shingle by hand well being young and foolish, and working with another lad who too was young and foolish, any loading ended up as competition, such as who shovelled quickest, on goes a level bed of sand 3 or4 bags off dust. The gaffer comes out and his eyes near pop out off his head, so we bet with him the cost off weighing it next door at fruehauf’s, anyway to the point 4.3ton huuraah :open_mouth: lost that bet and had to shovel near on a ton back off ■■■■ :open_mouth: But that little motor would just work and work. The new shape ■■■■■■ D reg wasnt a patch on it, different engine and 5 speed box useless. Allways took the Wreg out if I wasnt in one off the Bedford 7.5tonners

It’s amazing how many thing they are called a 3.5T van because they have a 3.5T payload, not realising 3.5T is max, wheelnuts and all.

Our Lutons weigh in about 2.4T kerb weight so doesn’t leave a massive amount of payload.

We knew the max weight, just enthusiastic shovelling

Watched a “Traffic Cops” or similar once. Load of Funfair Showman types, (swear filter doesn’t allow the word “pike” with a “y” on the end) with welsh accents had a good 3 tonne on a tipper. Broke down on a roundabout. I’m sure the cops let them off because they needed to be towed away. Couldn’t get to a weigh bridge under its own steam.

The police around we’re I work are always bringing vans to our bridge usuall poles with there whole worl in the back and a car on a trailer and wander why the are told to remove the car from the trailer then to be told they can’t drive the car as it’s got no insurance
