Ford motor company NOt driving Fords?

Volvo cars are part of the Ford empire now,as is Jaguar,I know all this useless info having picked up some exhibition material from Gothenburg and delivered it to Brussels Expo ready for the forthcoming Brussels MotorShow.

As well as the exhibition material I also had a Jaguar X-type estate for display (well you couldn’t really drive it,it had no doors or C-pillar one side) now why did that come from the Volvo factory and not Jaguar?

And I had to wait 2hrs for a forklift, some things never change!

Hiya Guys… well, now Ive figured out how to post pics, here is what I am training in…

But these are what Ford use now and they use these purely as they cost less on the lease…

Volvo’s are used on the trasporters because they come almost ready to accept the transporter bodys. Very little is needed to be be done to them, unlike any other make. Stuff like where the fuel tank is, and cab height, etc…

But get this… when Ford come to replace the old existing Ivecos, they are gonna be replacing them with…

Mercedes Axor’s!!!, I believe they are the ones just below the Actros…
Now how mad is that gonna be, Merc’s with a ford badge on!!!

And this is just a very minute fraction of the Ford Truck Fleet…

Sorry, Ive just found out how to post pics do I’m going off on one…   :unamused: :smiling_imp:

The rental company I work for have a 5 year old Eurostar thats in A1 condition & a good example of fords build quaility. :smiling_imp:

It got inpounded for 4 years thats how.

All Iveco’s need burning and binning, as do ERF’s and old MAN’s whilst I’m at it. AND NOT FORGETTING ANYTHING RENAULT TOO! :smiling_imp:

Nearly forgot three others, the FLC, FL6 and FL10 too.

Gimme a Globey, XF (super)space or Merc-mega any day :sunglasses:

:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: Well now you know…Ford do not build trucks. Sold out to Iveco some time ago. Bought Volvo CARS, now part of Premier motor group along with Aston Martin, Jaguar and some American junk (Cadillac, or is it Lincoln??).
Rumour has it that DAF even offered to put FORD badges on the CFs. If you get across the brook, you will find lots of MANs with Ford written on them. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I was doing some agency work at the weekend and i spotted some Daf,s pulling forthe F.M.C. can anyone tell me why they are not using Ivecos, am i stupid or do they actually not have any ties with them at all,
or do they just not trust using vehicles associated with their own name?.

Its a pretty bad advert for their own trucks dont you think?.

As far as I know the Ford Motor Company has severed all links with Iveco so I suppose they are free to use whatever trucks they want to.

It’s possible that Ford may have a tie up with DAF somehow, it’s hard nowadays to tell who owns who ( or is that whom ? just in case the resident spelling/punctuation nit picker is online tonight ).

Hiya Jammy…

I Work for the Ford Motor Co here in Dagenham, and I can tell you that, as Willy said, Ford have indeed severed all links with Iveco. I think it was TK Dave that told me Iveco were now in the Fiat Group. As is Ferrari, which is why Iveco are now the Formula 1 Ferrari transporters…

The Dafs that Ford are using are being used under lease from a leasing agent, because Ford them selves have no commercial trucks bigger than the transit.

I am actually gonna be starting my class one training with the ford truck fleet this coming friday, with my test thursday week. So hopefully by the end of Jan, I will be one of you guys out there on the roads, in either my nice new Daf CF… or my old bucket of an Iveco…LOL

Its simple Daf’s are well better than iveco’s.

Mmm, I think thats because you might be a bit Biased though shaggy…LOL…

Not only have Ford severed all commercial and marketing links with Iveco (who are indeed part of the Agnelli family’s ailing Fiat group) but they also use Volvo FMs on their in-house UK car transporter fleet.

ford do not have any shares in Iveco anymore. The jaguar F1 team (owned by ford) now use Volvo - as ford own volvo cars (dont know about trucks, but they dont own the construction part.) ansa are currently running daf.

Nope, as far as I know, Ford are only part owners of Volvo Cars, and have got nothing to do with Volvo Trucks, which is a seperate operation but running the Volvo name…

The fact that Ford are using the Volvo in there car transporter fleet is purly coinsidental, and prob coz they are gorgeous trucks and cheap under the lease, the same as the Dafs on their general haulage side.

Just to queer the pitch slightly I saw a liveried IVECO on the M4 today, didn’t catch the plate but it appeared to be an older vehicle.

Oh yeah, wiretwister, they have still got all there old Iveco’s, but as they die out and need replacing, there is no Ford Truck to replace it with, so hence they are leasing other makes.

When I pass my test and get on the fleet( 2 days til training!!, test next thursday!!!), its one of the Iveco’s I will be getting. They wouldnt let a newbie loose in one of the Dafs would they… hahahaha

I don’t think Ford are interested in what a truck looks like, if they did they would never have built and run the Cargo all those years ago, now they were the ‘UGLIEST’, MOST DANGEROUS and EMBARASSING piles of doo doo ever put on this planet and whats more they still build the rigid version here in the USA.
The manufacture of the big trucks here are now done by ‘Stirling’ and some models have merc engines but they still basically look like the old fords.

Ford cannot build trucks, so they stick to cars and vans etc (hmmmm they ain’t too good at that either)

Come on Pat stop messing about and tell us what you really think! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
