Forced to move while on rest ....using a digital tacho

if while on a daily rest period (11 or 9) and was asked to move, due to mabey i was obstructing an exit , entrance or for any other reason.where do i stand in the fact that i moved during that period, the vehicle has only moved 50 feet or so but has registered the move , do i do a print out and write on the printout ■■?.also if the person is not in authority to sign your printout to say you moved but good manners says you should move.will it affect the rest period■■?

If you were on rest you would not be obstructing an exit or entrance as only a numpty would park like that and I’m guessing you’re not a numpty!

Good manners say you wouldn’t need to move!

By law the only way you can move during a rest is if told by the police or VOSA and they will sign the back of your (printout) tacho anyway.

Good manners don’t count for anything as far as the law is concerned, the only legal reasons for interrupting a rest period would be if you were instructed to do so by someone with the authority to do so, or if you were driving on or off a ferry, and even then you should still have the complete 9/11 hours total rest.

thanx for the reply to my question, just a couple of points:
1.yes your right,no im not a numpty.
2.having spent nearly a hour trying to find somewhere to park, my last resort was an ind. est. and the back end of my trailer was a bit close to an exit/entrance way to a coach station. There was no problems with the coaches getting in or out so i asked the question hypothetically.
And finally:
3.in a perfect world we would all be parked up in nice clean and cheap lorry parks but seeing that we dont ,we have to take what we can as usuall…but there again that is the uk’s attitude to trucks…

Oh… By the way have a nice day now…

Can’t do a 9 hour rest interrupted for embarking or disembarking a ferry these days, you need a minimum of 11 hours total rest. :stuck_out_tongue:
