For drivers wives and girlfriends

From this Monday Morrisons knock off 10% off the grocery bill for all school staff including cleaners, just show the school ID at checkout.
I hope this helps out some folks in these difficult and turbulent times .

Unless your doing a monster triple figure shop, the saving is negligible maybe a couple of quid each time. Those doing smaller baskets will save pennies, this discount is the best marketing ploy devised by the supermarkets, the volume sales will outweigh the discounts

The most friendly by far of all the supermarkets to shop in, well done them, so that’s nhs and school staff getting 10% or are the national covid service back up to full whack?

10% savings are worth having, if the prices went up by ten percent most people would think it was a lot.

For the rest of us non-NHS and non-school workers, I’m quite impressed by Lidl’s scheme of the moment, the Lidl card, which works on both individual and monthly purchases: you get £2 off when you reach £100 spend in the month and another £10 off when you hit £200, plus if like me you do multiple small shopping trips, you get the occasional 50p off here and there as well as digital vouchers for particular products. Plus Lidl does tend to be cheaper than my nearest “big” Tesco’s supermarket.

For drivers wife’s and girlfriends? How do you get that from a 10% discount for NHS and school teachers?

I was expecting a calender or something from the thread title.

I once watched a guy rip into a woman on the till in morrisons because she didnt give him his 10% NHS discount, ironically his total spend was £3.50. As much as I support the work of hospital workers it annoyed me because I spend as much as they do but dont get any discount, but truck drivers where classed as essential workers

Indeed. And furthermore, you can bet your bottom dollar that the NHS staff who have wrung the most from all the offers and discounts intended primarily for those at the sharp end, will be those jobsworths whose bureaucratic incompetence put them in the mess in the first place.

I am struggling to figure out the connection, too. But then it is toby1234abc as the author so perhaps one should not be surprised.

Yes, perhaps the thread title should have been “For drivers’ wives and girlfriends and the Mayor’s daughter”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Toby? Am I missing something, change of username or something?

Yes, but keep it under your hat. :stuck_out_tongue:

While I’ve been stood in the snaking queue around the supermarket with the rest of the non critical/non priority minions, I’ve witnessed NHS staff stating that they’re doing shopping for others family members etc who where not shielding, so by the time myself and the other minions where allowed in the store, they’d stripped the shelves of the few primary items (bread etc) that we’d queued up for

Admission time, the thread title is not the best, but it was aimed for school staff and not for the NHS.

I’m confused, which I know isn’t unusual.

Is this post aimed at drivers, wives and girlfriends? In which case wives and girlfriends of who?
Or is it wives and girlfriends of drivers?
Why only wives and girlfriends? What about husbands and boyfriends?

Are you assuming only females work in schools?
Are you assuming all drivers are heterosexual males with female partners?
What about a male driver with a male partner?
What about a female driver with a male partner?
What about a male who works in a school?

So many questions, so little time

What! Are you excluding those who are identifying as non-binary?
Self identifying is everyone’s right.
.
.
I even know some who self-identify as drivers, but who I would describe in very different terms.

I identify as a cycling driver, so there. Drivers having WAGS is a new one on me.

The title should have only mentioned the discount for school staff and not drivers, their wives or girlfriends and if they were male or female, I’m sounding like Trump on an election campaign.

How so? Correcting yourself, and trying to get it right?
Nothing like Trump! [emoji3]

If Carryfast gets involved it will turn in a ten pager.
