For £35,000

which one would you buy!

I know what one i would buy if i had that sort of money sitting about

I had a 2007 FH 520 before I got my Merc, it broke down that often that I was quitting the job (salaried so not paid to be broken down) before the boss got rid of it and got me a new truck.

But I think old trucks are seen with rose tinted specs…

For work the Volvo…

For fun the Scania… But the advert says item location is Malta yet the text says based in Holland, and no test drives!! Looks very dubious…

Will be interesting to see with the 140 that £35 000 is the starting price only to see how much it goes for!

Me too

You could buy my old lady (see “Tatty Van Going Cheap” thread) and have £34,000 to earn you a couple of bob in the building society.

Judging by your honest description of it on TVGC thread, I could give you what it sounds like it’s worth and still have £34,995 left

Oh you’ve hurt my feelings now

35K Will buy a very nice 10 plate Jag xfr ,5ltr, v8, 550bhp, bugger all to the gallon and leave 3k in change. Better than any bleedin truck any day of the week.

Paint job on that Scania is rubbish. For that reason, I choose the Volvo.

personally, i think the volvo is overpriced at that much :open_mouth:

Pity the Scanny’s not a double drive jobby like the one in Destination Doha!

Dragons den? huh duncan lol

me being cynical , but it seems a bit odd as why if its only done 4000 odd miles would it have needed all those new bits fitted ie brakes and wheel bearings and gaskets and all the other bits? just seems a bit strange to me? its not even run in with that milage ? also 35000 pnds for basically an old truck er no thanx .

well id love it and if i had the lottery up it would be on its way to wales

+1

They should have restored the original cab that cabs a lot later than a 71
Interior later, headlamps should be in the bumper air tanks and battery are different
But that’s me being picky I would still like it

Can’t really compare the 2. The Scania is an appreciating classic while the Volvo will loose over £25,000 in the next 10 years. In fact given the current rates for pulling trailers I’d say the Scania sitting in a shed would be the safer option for an overall profit in 10 years time. :open_mouth:

I’ve just bought a 1994 Scania 143 as a toy. It’s something which will increase in value in the next 10-15 years but more importantly gives me and my son quality time together working on it which is a lot more interesting than fishing or football. I’ll no doubt get slated by the ‘I hate trucks’ brigade but feel free to post what you do on days off, I can guarantee a lot will think you’re sad and pathetic as well.

I was originally looking for a classic car but you can have far more fun on a deserted road in an unlimited 143 than you’ll ever have in any car.

At that mileage I think I’d price it at £20k ONO and take the first bite

I’d never buy a 4x2 anyway…
