Foot on the ladder FOLLOW UP

For those of you that may have seen my previous topic titled “Foot On The Ladder!!!”, I thought I may give a little update! I had my assesmment which went really well. Had a further two days out with the trainer doing couple of jobs and to give me a heads up on the do’s and don’ts!! Got through them days absolutely fine, no problems.

Then had my induction on Friday, watched a “really good” video for 1 1/2 hours went through all the paperwork. Went out friday night to do a driver relief not far from the yard! Then had full day out saturday, night out and day out on sunday, so a bit of a mini tramp if you like!! All went well, no major dramas.

Got back to the yard sunday night, got vehicle sorted and paperwork done. Downloaded driver card to the tachomaster and had 3 infringements. On a personal level, wasn’t too happy about this, but they were very minor and infringed by a minute or 2. Also had to nurse the unit back to the yard due to a fault that affected the unit most of the weekend!

But glad I got the first weekend complete with no major problems!! So now reflecting and taking on board the “errors of my ways” this weekend and will learn from that so shouldn’t happen next weekend, providing they have some work for me, which I would have thought they would. Been informed that I have made a very good impression with everyone I have met and spoken to. So all good, as just want to get the experience and do a good job for when my time in the armed forces comes to an end!!

Company I am with have been really good to me, however, couple of other drivers that I spoke to were under the impression, it was a bit excessive where they sent me this weekend, considering it was my first weekend out!! But I have set my bar high now so just have to keep it there!! Looking forward to next weekend now.
