There is.

Rule 1. Buy it.

Rule 2. Don’t buy it.

Rule 3. Choose only one of Rule 1 and 2.

I trust this clarifies matters.

P&O are just as bad, you used to be able to order a steak cooked as you like it but now they sit under the nuclear lights with the rest of the rubbish and if you’re near the back of the queue they are dry, rubbery and taste awful.
i also find it annoynig they charge for each individual thing now rather than just a “meal” price

I was on p&o saturday a light breakfast is advertised as 1.99 a large at 3.99. Being as i was ill i had an egg with beans on toast. 3.99. Not a light breakfast because it was all cooked. It was cold by the time i got thru the till anyway.

I would imagine this is for the same reason that the south coast ferry operators stopped giving drivers free meals, pressure from eastern European operators for shipping rates to be cut to the bone. Meals used to be subsidised and now it seems they aren’t and instead of getting a cheap-ish meal as a perk the driver pays the full price.

even the longer boats have gone down the same road as dover-calais,
the drivers restaurant on the caen-portsmouth is now just a room with a coffee machine and a tv, if you want food queue up with the car drivers but at least its half price but not really worth what you pay definitely not as good as when there was waiter service in the restaurant

I think it depends on the Chef’s snd the crews. I came back on DFDS from Dunkerque the other night. Nice fish chips and peas.
Going over on same boat, lamb chop and potatoes and peas. Both good.£3.75 both ways. Can’t grumble.
Had P&O last week, good grub both ways.
Pure luck?

I don’t, I know why. :stuck_out_tongue:

The badger pie and fox stew was delicous on the ferry, they are doing deep fried earthworms on pizza next week for a treat.

Try the Cap Finistere on the portsmouth santander route, not only is the food disgusting, but you often have to share 3 and 4 to a cabin for 24hrs, and the crew are the most unhelpful, rude, miserable and humourless bunch of tossers you will ever meet.

Only did Portsmouth-Cherbourg on that once. I was the only driver on it…And about 5 cars. The restaurants were not even open.
I had to settle for a pint and sit on me own…Nobby no mates.
Staff were miserable [zb] though.
