Bit of trivia about the USA, taking a pee on the side of the road may get you a ticket for indecent exposure but taking a dump won’t.
There’s not any replies from the so called interlectual philosopher type posters on this basic need of most lorry drivers, they bore most people to death with di-secting most subjects that they comment on, so come on lads lets get afew more pages out of this.

It’s a done deal you have to go when you have to go in the job you are in it is expected that you do, do it
Nothing to be ashamed ofSure nowt to be ashamed of or bothered about in one of those ‘gotta go now’ emergency situations, just like I said in o/p.
But my point was do some of you actually see it as routine, normal or even acceptable as ‘part of the job’ in tramping in this day and age?
If you do, you should be having a word with yourself imo, and realise how you’ve been led to this indignity by the apathy and refusal by the powers that be, to provide us with plenty of adequate facilities in this age of HEALTHand safety,… and are you really happy with just accepting it?
…that was my point in the o/p.I would say you are expecting a lot even in this day and age have you forgotten what you have read here
You have soles here working for next to nothing why would they not put up with being treated like scrap
They have no other outlet what takes them is what they have and would never get any better because they no know better
Do you mean the ones that will do whatever tf they are told without question?.., such as ‘‘Park up as close as you can to drop and to your 9 hours’’ , so they pass about a dozen or so good places near facilities, even some where you need to go off route slightly, to some ■■■■ hole lay by in the middle of nowhere, eat crap and get rocked to death all night, waking up desperado for the khazi and find themselves huddled in the back of their trailer, or worse in their cabs , while at the same time Mr.d/head planner (who must be obeyed
) is waking up after a proper supper, proper sleep and using his bathroom, as any human being should take for granted…except of course the guy in the lay by with the lack of backbone.
Aye,…you’re dead right.

Trouble is from my tiny grasp of the industry so far its still seems to me as it always has that the whole “rush rush max your drive” approach is so pandemic folks aint got much of a ■■■■ choice but to.
I watched jenko on YouTube last night, he done his day with 1 minute to spare!!
How can this be acceptable in a world so apparently hell bent on safety/welfare?
I’ve a mate just started with a big firm, he’d got NO experience like me of actually doing job himself hands on, it’s been here’s a two day corporate on oh how you must be safe blah blah, we value you and will give you time…
He got two days with a mentor, then slung onto road with hours maxed straight off the bat!!
Time to find a clean place to stop and drop a log in his day, nope.
Seems to me Mr rob its a case now of job or no job and the industrys now 60k apparent shortage is only fuelling the fire from both angles, can’t get folks in to do it coz standards so bad, can’t keep folks doing it coz erm standards so bad…
What a world [emoji849][emoji17]

Benjie maybe I should have put this on your '‘Ist Day’ other post, but in answer to your point…
In my experience of being an employed driver since finishing with my own outfit 20+ years ago (where I treated my drivers like grown men btw) I have found that they only tell you to do what they know you will do. and what they can get away with.
On day 1 of your job, show them you have a brain (without being arrogant and arsey) and set your own pace.
If you run like a nutter on day1, they expect it ALL the time, so do the job at a safe reasonable pace and to the best of your ability, and show them you have a professional approach, instead of teararse maxing out like your arse is on fire,…and there is Jack ■■■■ they can do.
You will find that some of the examples you mention are down to drivers being their own worst enemies.

Just such a shame folks feel they have to conform to it, I grew up in an owner op family, so I fully get all your saying Mr rob, my rents NEVER made the guys work like what we’re talking about, and it rubbed off on me hard hence I’ve done 20 jobs in my life as every one bar one has basically been a bully factory… Not for me lol.
But when your new in… Or being told agency drivers 10 a penny so do it or jog on it must be hard for many to say no, as you like me will know bills to pay and changing jobs even in a week can cause issues with money/life so I think Alot are just taking it because maybe they don’t have the industry knowledge and strength of character blokes like you do?
Either way modern world it should not be happening unless absolutely no choice due to Alot of this threads aforementioned pre existing points…

Wouldn’t say I’ve done the deed in my kecks. But they have been soiled due to not enough clearance.
Was in the cab. Pulled my trousers down and squatted over drivers seat. ALDI bag out. Wiped bum. Pulled trousers back up and felt warm mush. Realised that half of it was in my kecks. Had to strip straight off. Flung filthy kecks out of the window and cleaned myself as best I could. Drove back commando. Worst part was that some had gone all over the seat. Wiped that up as well and put high viz down as a seat cover. Flung that away as soon as I got back to the yard.
Rob will be horrified - as I don’t even sleep in metal tins. These things happen. Part and parcel of being a truck driver. Left the windows down to hide it from next driver as there was no way I was admitting to that.

Never mind leaving the windows down there must have been ■■■■ everywhere

So ■■■■■■■■ in a cab and all over the seat and everywhere else for the next poor unfortunate guy to sit in is ‘‘part and parcel of being a trucker is it’’, … and not at least warning somebody, (let alone deep cleaning it) before they had the misfortune to discover it?.. nah mate that is just being part and parcel of being a downright dirty ■■■■ who needs a slap.
I ain’t ‘‘horrified’’ as you put it, because nothing surprises me about some ‘‘drivers’’.
Just thank your lucky stars a that it wasn’t someone as d/head intolerant as me, because if you had not got the sack for doing it, I would have got sacked for my reaction to you for leaving me with it.
Not that I’m thinking it actually happened btw, but at least somebody was amused by it. .
