Foiled by the grass

Someone’s Friday has gone downhill after going up Langley Hill.

Greene King quick to declare GXO as their TPLP.

Meanwhile in Swindon they were too slow to get their camera phones out.

Not quite sure they should have been draping stuff over the road at a height that would be a problem.

Their own fault for draping it across a public highway!!

I was expecting a picture of the local residents(who do not want to be named :unamused: )stood with their arms folded and miserable faces
Bloody juggernaughts, thundering down our streets

I dont think you can recover from that.
Yes,weve all been in bad situations,I remember one I turned off the m25 just the first junction past the bridge and before I knew I was on a country road getting narrower and narrower.I asked this woman if there was anywhere ti turn, she said no.Then a width limit ahead.I had to drive into this farm in the end and turn there.Luckily, the farmer was heloful. Its funny, the M25,you can be in really built up urban area, then you turn off and all of a sudden, you can end up right in the countryside miles from anywhere,it looks like…

I reckon the only ‘grass’ he’s been ‘foiled’ by is the ■■■■ with the camera. :unamused:
You can get away with nowt these days.

Fine the residents for fly tipping imo, bunch of idiots.

I found this comment funnier than I should have done:

the driver got out and said “it didn’t matter as it was a council verge” before driving off.

Be even better if he now has deliveries today in London …and a taste for buntin wreaking, could sneak in amongst em, and have a field day

The driver deserves to be sacked for what he did, I’ve no sympathy for him whatsoever :unamused:

Maybe someone should have told the residents that the bunting should have been hung up at least 16ft 6” so the 16ft 2” trailer could pass through
I suspect that I’ll be able to find out more info about this on Monday morning when I’m back at Swindon

Residential street?
I`d bet the bunting was not even high enough to clear a home delivery puddle-jumper.

Or got Carryfast to put up a height marker. Oh, hang on, that wouldn’t have saved the bunting.

I imagine it was a puddle jumper. No reason for a decker to be down there.

Star down under.:

I guess it must be Imperial bunting, not metric bunting, so he`d be OK with that.

The usual bollolox about jugganauts etc etc but no outrage about cars so poorly parked that a fire engine will not get pass. Wonder what the outrage would be if one of their houses burnt down because of no access.

It certainly is:

Guidance and conditions for placing bunting over or near the highway
Consent under the Highways Act 1980: Section 178
The stringing or placing of bunting over, along or in the highway is unlawful without having first obtained the consent of the highway authority.
With regard to headroom, the minimum clearance to underside of bunting must be:-
Designated High Load Routes – 7.5m
Other carriageway and shared surfaces where vehicles have access – 5.7m

The driver wouldn’t be laughing if he had to pay for it: When I worked bin/recycling wagons for a private company, we would get the bill from the council for driving over verges and leaving tyre tracks, they really took the mick, and that’s without churning it up like this example.

I have driven a beer wagon before and had some difficult manoeuvres because of selfish idiots parking where they know that they shouldnt. What was the driver to do in this case? the pub wants the stuff ,can he just take a photo and say failed delivery.!
