Fog and Truck Drivers

so it was a bit foggy and you were overtaken??
I didnt see anything wrong there at all

Truckulent:
The last few days have seen a lot of fog in the West Yorks area.

And I’ve been amazed at how many lorry drivers I’ve seen without any lights on of any kind, including a few on the M62…

WTF■■? Pro drivers?? Or just as bad as the idiots in Micras and Kias etc. etc.? How can a supposedly professional driver fail to use dipped headlights

We must have the same micra and Kia drivers, the ones that pull out on you cutting you up because they “don’t wanna get stuck behind a lorry” whilst pulling out off there garden centres churches and the alike then toddle off down the road at 15mph, the ones that insist on full blown high bean front and rear fogs (in the slightest off drizzle) then no lights at all in heavy fog treacherous rain and occasionally at night,
I’m glad you have stereotyped theese drivers I thought it was just me and that all micra a kias and Hyundais where just out to get me paranoia over!

Truckulent:
I saw a few trucks on the M62 as they passed underneath a bridge i was stood on above the motorway.

Chas:
Why were you stood on a bridge above the M62?

quality! you and karl plikington would be great on tv fella!

MADBAZ:
I did see plenty of HGV’s that were on tow (although I couldn’t see a rope :frowning: ).

you shouldn’t have wrote THAT! :open_mouth: albion71 will be along shortly :unamused: to tell us about 55 pages of dangerous lunatics, who he trained in the forces, that we’re all murderers to the first degree! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: think of the children! :sunglasses: nasty juggernaut, steering wheel attendants who should hand their licences back!

EastAnglianTrucker:
I the last few days have seen NO fog in the East Anglia region.

And I’ve been amazed at how many car drivers I’ve seen with their foglights on, both front and back, including a lot on every road I’ve traveled on…

WTF■■? Car drivers with licences? Or just as bad as each other? How can a supposedly licenced car driver fail to switch of their foglights when there is no fog??

Shocking methinks! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I take it you are one of the idiots that drive in fog without lights then? Nice to hear the sarcastic view of a steering wheel attendant and not a driver… :unamused:

What gives you the right to assume you know what I do when I drive in fog? You don’t have that right because you don’t know me. You’re just ■■■■■■ off because I posted something sarcastic that you didn’t like, on your rant about truck drivers!

And what gives you the right to call me an idiot for pointing out, there are plenty of car drivers who drive around with their fog lights on, when there is no fog? You don’t have that right either.

You’re ■■■■■■ off because, I’ve pointed out there are at least as many examples of bad driving exhibited by car drivers as truck drivers. But all you want to do is rant about truck drivers!

Well guess what? None of the drivers you’re complaining about care what you think, because they’re not on this forum! And if they were they probably can’t remember the troll standing on the bridge whilst they were concentrating on the road below!

Any troll can come on here and rant about truck drivers. There seems to be a spate of it at the moment!

Can I suggest you either grow up or go away! Or, as most truck drivers might say; f[zb]ck off!

Truckulent:
This question is too stupid to answer.

So I won’t.

OK - Try this question, with 3 options to make it easier for you . . .

A… Did you see the truck with your own eyes ?

B… Did you see the truck with someone else’s eyes ?

C… Did you fall for the joke hook, line & sinker ?

Common sense rarely seems to something on our roads today either with car or truck drivers.

Little bit of mist and the rear fogs come on even in towns or heavy traffic. The fact that the lights are more harm than good in these circumstances seems to have little effect on the drivers concerned. And the fact that the switch works both ways and can be operated more than once per trip also seems to have escaped their notice.

Saw at at least three cars last night with no lights on at all despite the rest of the world being lit up.

It is just a sad indictment of the world we live in where driving a car, or lorry is seen as a right rather than a privilege and that it isn’t a skill you need to think about or practice.

Lorry drivers are in general better although there seems to be a growing number of the numpties in cars deciding that the need something bigger and taking the truck test.

The scary thing is they seem to be passing it.

Chas:
If a vehicle needs lights on in fog so it can be seen, how then can it be seen if it has no lights on?

:unamused: :unamused: So it can be seen easier

You really are a being a ■■■■ aren’t you? I am not a ‘troll’. I made a perfectly reasonable comment. You were the one being sarcastic, not me.

Obviously something touched a nerve with you, judging from your hugely defensive and sarcastic attitude. I’m not ■■■■■■ off. I couldn’t care less what you think or say. The attitude ‘it’s OK for professional truck drivers to drive without lights in fog because car drivers forget to turn off fog lights when there is no fog’ is one I thankfully do not subscribe to.

I aren’t ranting specifically about truck drivers either. I am a truck driver FFS. Most of the truck drivers were properly lit up, which proves my point - the ones that weren’t were idiots. And I agree car drivers are usually worse. So I should ‘grow up’ because I dare to criticise a truck driver without lights on in dense fog on a motorway! Hmm. Not me with the issue there matey…

Most car drivers aren’t ‘professionals’. They are generally not paid to drive. Truck drivers are. I merely commented on the fact that in fog you should use dipped headlights and several so called ‘professional’ drivers weren’t doing so. Which is wrong. Use of lights isn’t about logic. It’s about being seen and staying as safe as you can.

The main point is that truck drivers are supposed to be professionals. Clearly, many are not.

Oh and remember. People only make sarcastic comments when they can’t think of anything witty to say…

Incidentally, I was out walking at the time with the dog. So sorry, not a Stobbie fan (as many of my posts on here prove!)

I dont see anything wrong there either!!!
What would he have been like if a coach overtook him :open_mouth:

Chas:
It is neither a strange nor stupid question.

If a vehicle needs lights on in fog so it can be seen, how then can it be seen if it has no lights on?

“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

These type of deep philosophical questions have no place in a truckers forum ,there are deeper questions that deserve our consideration like where do they keep the holes that are removed during roadworks ? and will a pint of adblue a day make me burn cleaner when i am cremated

Truckulent:

No mate, you’ve got that wrong. Again!

You were highly critical of “professional” truck drivers who weren’t doing what you think they should! And what qualifies you to be the fount of all knowledge? Yeah, that’s right, precisely, nothing!

Truckulent:

Too right mate. There was no reason to call me an idiot. And I didn’t say it was OK for truck drivers to drive without lights in fog. I merely pointed out that many car drivers do the same sort of stupid things… even when there’s no fog!

And sure you’re ■■■■■■ off, because I questioned your opinion about other drivers. (See, my comment above about your qualifications!)

Truckulent:
I aren’t ranting specifically about truck drivers either. I am a truck driver FFS.

I don’t believe you. I think you’re a wannabe truck driver! At a guess, you’re way too old to actually do anything about it, but filling in your time between picking your nose and picking up your pension, telling the people actually doing it, what they’re doing wrong! Big of you! But I guess it gives you something to do… and thank God, keeps you off the street! Unfortunately, on the bridges, telling everybody what you think they’re doing wrong…

Truckulent:

Oh, now it’s “…most were properly lit up…” and “…a truck driver…” Your OP said, and I quote: “And I’ve been amazed at how many lorry drivers I’ve seen without any lights on of any kind, including a few on the M62…”

Most trolls start to change their stories once they realise they’ve been rumbled!

IF you were a truck driver, and that’s debatable, why are stating the bleedin’ obvious? No, you’re some sort of self appointed judge, jury and policing officer, with special powers to say what is right and wrong on the roads?

Truckulent:
Oh and remember. People only make sarcastic comments when they can’t think of anything witty to say…

Says the fount of all knowledge…

Isn’t it time you went to bingo?
