I have a 2000 Foden Alpha 3000 with the Cat engine, when you start it from cold its very lumpy, like its running on two or three cylinders, if you dont keep the revs up until there is a bit of heat in it,it will basically cut out and then it wont start at all. I need to leave it for about an hour and then it will start up. Anybody have any ideas about this?
I was thinking the same Daz about the fuel running back , its sounds like classic symptoms for that but i`m not sure it would start if you left it for an hour. Never had owt to do with Cat engines , do they have fuel lift pumps fitted ?. What happens if you pumped the lift pump up before you start it, does it start straight away ? , this would then suggest you have a problem with the fuel running back / loss of pressure
