Flyovers showing their age

Hammersmith flyover might get removed and replaced for a tunnel. Sounds like it’s primarily for the benefit of the locals.

Whereas up north, the Gateshead flyover is starting to fall apart and destined to disappear as it never got linked over the river.

I can see your house from up here, Robroy.

The great north south divide

I was in the midlands the other week and somehow found it surprising there was rush hour queues that far north.

Queues isn’t the word it.Ironically I gave up on using the A5 last week and used the M1 from Leicester to A43.They are all doing whatever it takes to avoid Birmingham and the M6 and wrecking all the alternatives largely because they can’t get their heads around roundabouts.

M6 and Birmingham is more less permanent rush hour (not sure why it’s called rush hour when lasts lot longer)
And all the so called improvement they’ve done around junction 10 hasn’t made any mind of Difference.
Then again.my area Manchester is almost as bad spent years making m 60 m 62 into smart motorways and if anything made congestion worse in my opinion

Think Manchester and Birmingham are definitely a case of induced demand. Build as many lanes as they want and they’ll get filled. Especially around the hell hole Trafford Centre.

There’s plans going through to make siminster island M60 m66 junction into a flyover system .
So if your traveling along m 60 clockwise you won’t have to come off round the roundabout to rejoin it.

Something like they did at end of the m 6. A14 .
End of they day same as around Birmingham,to many junctions to close to each other. Unless they close off some junctions there never solve the problem but there never do that
