Has anyone used Flight Radar?
The screenshot highlights the density of air traffic avoiding Iran but there are some aircraft flying over the country, I thought they weren’t allowed to do that.
Where I live I see the regular KLM flights going over from Amsterdam to South America and the Caribbean islands in South America that were former Dutch colonies.
Yes we have the basic subscription. Since we are more or less under the variable flightpath, and one of the holding patterns, some 40 miles distant from both Heathrow and Gatwick and face WSW, we like to sit in the garden on a summer afternoon and occasionally go indoors and look up to see where the 'planes are going or come from. A few years ago, knowing the time of our daughter’s flight we followed it on Flightradar only for us to actually see it pass directly over us at some 10 to 15,000 feet IIRC.
The traffic seems to come in short 20 minute to 1/2 hr bursts with several hours in between as the track alters heading slightly over a 15 mile radius. The long distance international traffic at 40,000 ft seems to follow the same pattern.
We get around 4 Spitfire flights out of Biggin Hill a day as well. Sometimes more at the weekends.
Edit add: the one which has just gone directly over at 37,000 feet was Flight LS691 Boeing 737 GJHA, a Jet 2 Holidays flight from Nottingham to Burgas in Bulgaria. The Flightradar track, which does often vary from reality slightly is actually spot on this time.
It’s quite interesting, not sure if anyone can track Air Force One or the Blue Flights for the Royal Family.
I see the private jets from the USA that seem to go a long way such as Eastern Europe destinations or further east, not sure how with smaller fuel tanks.
If you look up the planes details you will probably find they are either leaving or going to iran (i fully expect some leftie to argue with that as it negates the argument of why so many come by dinghy)
The othere reason is the country where the aircraft is registered is friendly with iran
