Flawed Logic

Get this for a way to save money on fuel.

I swear this is true, bloke at work does nights same as me, was talking to him yesterday, and he says hes bought a bike to come to work on. I said “good idea, pain in the arse if you dont feel like the pedalling home after a shift”, “thats no problem,” he says"the missus fetches me in a morning!"

I didnt bother to explain,at least hes getting fit at night I suppose

We’ve a guy who cycles in but if it’s raining gets a lift home with his mates van

Not content with worrying about other peoples’ hours/checks/money/driving/and whatever else, it now seems that drivers are concerned about their colleagues’ health/carbon footprint/partner/fitness…

A sad state of affairs.

Is it beyond you to just live your own life and leave others to theirs? Can you not just leave people alone?

It was the Goverment that started it, you had best tell them first!!!

“Flawed Logic” alright.
Is he on drugs? If not a trip to the Trick-cyclist may help.

Let’s try you on this one then…

What is the gross mass of a 120kg man in a spacesuit when he is standing on the moon?

Let’s try you on this one then…

What is the gross mass of a 120kg man in a spacesuit when he is standing on the moon?

What ever his gross mass is on earth. The fact he’s standing on the moon means nothing. An earth measurement is valid on the moon in the absence of any known certifying lunar authority.

The flawed logic is saying anything other than 120kg…

I told you the mass, which is the same anywhere. Many would enter 20kg and get it wrong 'cos they think the moon’s gravity is 1/6th of the earth’s. It might be, but that only alters the weight not the mass. :sunglasses:

Accelerating to the speed of light makes a difference, but not an experiment anyone is likely to perform to overturn the answer already given. :grimacing:

Yeah, but the question asked “what is the gross mass of a 120kg man in a spacesuit when he is standing on the moon?”

(Ignoring the irrelevant location) Surely the spacesuit has mass of its own in addition to the 120kg man? So the gross mass would be 120kg + mass of spacesuit.

Arrghh! the point I was trying to make here is that most people would elect for the 20kg answer, thinking that they “Know something” when they know the moon has 1/6th the gravity of the earth, which is well within the bounds of “General Knowledge”. The trick of the question is the mass factor which is the same anywhere. THe moon is just a red herring to get you to select the wrong answer by making the easy mistake that many might make… Confusing mass with local weight.

The actual 120kg bit is irrelevent, as whatever it is comes out the same regardless. Space suit included or not.

Winseer:

Now that I would like to see. Do you have a date and time when it is visible?

Don’t even bother asking which is heavier, a ton of lead or a ton of feathers :unamused:

Would it depend if on the moon ?

If you hailed from Wiltshire, you would know that there isnt a moon . . its a cheese

How much fuel does the man in the space suit use to get to the moon?

Does he stay there for the rest of his life or does he return the next day.

Does he return by bicycle or by spacecraft?

If he returns, does he need to abide by EU regs or WTD or no rules at all during the outward and return trips?

How much does the fuel he uses weigh when he is on the moon?

How much does it weigh when in space? Is the weight change catered for by ADR somehow?

Can he hire the spacesuit when he gets to the moon or must he hire it before the journey commences from an ‘earth’ shop?

Does he need ADR to carry that much fuel or is it outside ADR if its in his vehicle’s fuel tank? (or does he carry spare fuel, in IBCs or in tanks?)

This is why we ALL need to do driver CPC NOW!!!

You’d need ADR to carry the liquid oxygen in the tanks.
