funny you should mention lights,
ive noticed similar situations with lights in your mirror when driving a motorcycle.
you can be poodling along in top gear minding your own business at 8000 rpm and all of a sudden you notice some blue flashing lights behind you mostly accompanied with sirens wailing.
but as soon as you drop 2 gears,and dial up 12000 revs all of a sudden they vanish…strange but true…
