No I don’t bother flashing vans as they are all doing 90mph, I don’t bother with 7.5tonners either as they are all doing that “press the accelerator over and over to get past the limiter for a millisecond” thing so they are a waste of space aswell,
and I don’t bother with Coaches as they are all [zb]s who think they own the road (especially National Express)because they are allowed to go 4mph faster than us ?
Ridiculous that Coaches and trucks have a speed limit of 60mph on the motorway but somehow People are more important than freight so we have to get stuck to 56mph, or even less, 52 in most of them.
Rigids I never seem to get a chance to flash in as they are already taking your mirror off before they are past, so
I only flash in anyone that is passing at a similar speed to I am doing, or is towing a trailer.
i always flashed them in,i started out vans and 7.5t in the midd 80’s,kind of my apprenticeship into wagon driving,so i feel a bit of affinity toward them, you know which one’s you are going to flash, the one’s being driven properly.
Big Brummie Macca:
I used to drive vans and I used to appreciate truckers flashing me in and truckers used to appreciate when I would flash them out and move into lane three. As for truckers being thick maybe you should consider how thick you are posting that on a truck drivers forum
Well said Macca, i totally agree and im glad there are still some sensible courteous road users out there like your good self,
No doubt ill be flashing you in soon,
Trucks vans aren’t they all commercial vehicles used for carrying and/or delivering goods, all driven by people just doing a job. Who care’s if it’s a transit or an artic, give them all a bit of courtesy and respect.

I flash 7.5 tonners, Rigids, Artics, coaches except National Express, too many of them havent said thanks when i have flashed them in so i never bother with them anymore
I never flash vans in, there really is no need, but if other people want to then thats fine with me, gotta releive the boredom somehow i suppose
I thought the reason we flashed other trucks in was to let them know that it was safe for them to pull in if they so choose, which helps out not only the overtaking driver but other road users as well because overtaking times will be shortened when the overtaking vehicle is speed restricted. It can be necessary to do this to an artic or even a class 2 rigid due to the length of the vehicle and the fact that it’s not easy to judge completely accurately distances in convex mirrors. Am I roughly right?
If I am right, why on earth would you need to flash in a van under normal circumstances? Vans are only slightly longer than cars so it’s not hard to find the back end of them in the mirrors, especially if you’re a good driver and you leave a safe distance from the vehicle you’ve overtaken before pulling in. And providing they’re not overloaded, vans have got the capability to do an overtake at a much higher speed than the vehicle it’s overtaking, therefore not holding up the traffic behind.
The only time I’d flash in a van is if it was towing something large and was overtaking slowly but progressively. I’d only flash in a 7.5 tonner in if it was overtaking slowly because it was restricted, but even that’s rare because they normally pull as soon as they’ve cleared you by an inch or two rather than waiting until it’s safe to do so

Who are the truckers who when overtaken by a transit van flash it in as if its an artic? Why promote the myth that us truckers are thick. Please stop it…

The above quote possibly ends this thread, vans dont need to be flashed in … if i was a van driver i wouldnt want to be flashed in nor would i expect it

I persoonally dont flash in vans or puddle jumpers, I have seen on a few occasions wagons flashing in cars?
If its an artic or rigid it will get flashed in aslong as he/she hasn’t driven like a ■■■■■ up my arse,
As for the OP, get a life and stop trolling, you aint even good at that, so at driving I can only imagine…
Come to think of it, I do flash in cars if they’re sitting in the middle lane and causing a queue behind them, not that they take any notice or understand that they’re at fault. Or if they’re doing 40mph in 50mph road works in the middle lane I flash them in and give them a few minutes opportunity for them to pull in before I overtake them on the inside, giving them a blast of air horn as I pass
The only time I flash vans in is if i’m indicating to pull out into the middle lane and instead of blocking me in like normal they’ve either flashed me to let me out and/or moved into the outer lane.
The rest of the time it’s to let them know they’re a stupid zb for pulling out cutting me up etc, usually accompanied by a blast of the horn.

Hahaha i do that on a nightly basis, love it when they then speed up because your undertaking them, becomes a battle of wills for them because i keep on accelerating to the limiter and just stay there (you can do 56 through roadworks on a 50 limit without ever getting a ticket) they always bottle it at the sight of the next average speed camera, car drivers are idiots

Sprinters I used to drive are twice longer than my car
And from the point of view of Sprinter driver: I have cars behind me doing much faster than me (as I am considerable van driver) and I want to let them go, but not pull too early. So as I usually stay on the right quite long compared to other road users (as I am considerable driver ) many lorries flash me in.
I then can pull in in front of them, as this means for me that they are aware of my presence (so it’s safer for me to be closer to their front bumper) and that driver is compfortable with me pulling in now.
As from behind the high wheel, I’ll flash anything which travel with speed similar to mine, if necessary. Sometimes I even flash in cars, as some of people driving them are not good drivers, therefore if that can help them, why not?
Whilst we are on the subject of ‘flashing in’ can someone please remind me of the reason
So many times i get over taken by other truckers who for some unknown reason come back in when their trailer is only 6 inches past me - this causes me to ‘■■■ my pants’ - why oh why can they not wait for the friendly flash?
most of the time its normal major supermarket types but the owner drivers do it too -
i always wait for a flash or until i am totally certain i have passed and have left enough ‘SAFE BRAKING ROOM!!’
this is aimed at the ones who don’t leave a safe distance
cheers
Steve

They are showing you that they are awesome truck drivers, they dont need a flash cos they know exactly when their trailer is just past your bumber, they are in short pricks, they dont want to wait for the flash if it isnt coming so they pull back in when they think they are clear so they dont look like a tool sat in the middle lane waiting for said flash… just my opinion but i bet its true
Flashing as a matter of course is a very much outdated, historical unneccessisty. Infact, i’ve flashed a guy in who is clearly going faster than the vehicle in front of me and he’s moved in , and then straight back out again !!! I’ve also done the same myself with the situations reversed !!! And i bet i aint the only one.
Pain in the arse flashers are to be honest.
