Flashing drivers in

It’s the Arctic gods who won’t flash a rigid in because it’s “just a van” . no I don’t necessarily need it to know im clear or left you enough space, neither I’m guessing do most artic drivers but if it makes driving 1% more comfortable for the overtaking driver why not do the decent thing.

It is also known as courteous driving. :bulb:
It has worked for generations,

^ This.

While it’s more relevant than ever now with the low speed differentials created by speed limiters.

robroy:
This has been done to death mate :unamused:
Ok, I do agree with you, but you end up getting a 10 page thread when the smartarses who don’t flash you, coming out with the classic…‘‘You should not be driving a truck if you NEED flashed in or the .’‘I don’ t need flashed me as I know exactly where my back doors are’’ :unamused: … stupidly not realising that we ALL do, and none of us NEED it, but it is more of a space awareness thing letting the driver know you are comfortable with the space he has left rather than him taiking your [zb] front grille off. :smiling_imp:

It has worked for generations, I don’t give a [zb] if you do not flash me, just don’t [zb] cut in on me. :bulb:

So I reckon that just about covers it. :sunglasses:

So the occaisonal ■■■■ that tries to take my wipers off with his back doors know they’re doing it? Buggers!

Hank Hill:
Remember the 4 seconds rule in good driving conditions.

Massive +1 but I doubt Mr Average knows about it never mind practice it.

What annoys me , is people who rather than flash their lights once of twice to let you know you’re clear, frantically flash them, 4,5,6 times. Trucks and cars do it. It makes me think Ive got a puncture etc and they’re trying to alert me …

ftfy. :grimacing:

With rigid’s and 7.5 tonners you get an excited multiple tinkle on the indicators, I think it’s because it gives them a boost to be acknowledged by a proper driver.

FFS grow up. sounds more like squabbling kids.
My Dad’s bigger than yours and all that.
Try helping others instead of slagging each other.

Jeeez H, It’s just a bit of banter mate, chill out.
Btw Your Dad will have to be a hell of a big bloke to be bigger than my Dad, I come from a long line of John Wayne types.

For the record I flash 4 wheelers in, I think most of US Driving Gods started on them anyway.

Far too often now i don’t get a chance to flash 'em in, artics or rigids, they get about 6ft past me windscreen and 1 millionth of second after their left hand indicator goes on they’re coming in, which is bloody great if they’re doing 1km faster than me cos i then have to slow down about 5 clicks to get a safe distance between us sharpish.

Courtesy has all but vanished now, just as manners and honour have disappeared.

Must admit to not "flashing in " since mirrors became the size of a tv screen and not vibrate like a wacker plate.
As an aside, why do some drivers acknowledge a non existant flash in.
Are they not paying attention, or just being sarcastic ?

Always have and always will let someone know it’s safe to pull in. Learnt that years ago, just manners and a respect for your fellow driver.
Like others, I do get annoyed when there’s no thank you. Like the hand up from an oncoming driver you’ve let through. Silly, but it [zb] me right off.

I do this

As I am limited to 53 mph most pass me I flash when I feel there is safe distance

Flash light is to let other road uses know you are there ( Highway code )

I also liked to be thanked it is only polite

No one bothers on the continent apart from the odd one but its a rare thing, ive got into that way too and never bother flashing in and dont really see it as the problem it seems to made out to be…

Yep but remember flashing your headlight in Europe means that you are coming through maybe this is why

Must admit to the sarcastic acknowledgement, personally I flash when I’m happy their is a safe distance although as has been said some drivers ideas of a safe distance are a bit too close for comfort.
