anybody ever had one fitted on the cab wall? i dont mean in a cupboard, more like with a bracket the way you would in your kitchen at home. i,ve taken the top bunk out as theres only ever me in it so i,ve now got loads of space at the sides and the back of the cab, anyone got any ideas. i plan on getting one professionaly {spelling } fitted just wondering where i can put it
cant help with specific question but heres a tip. you can buy a truck microwave oven for £250 but insted you can buy a house microwave oven for £30 and a brand new petrol generater off ebay for £50 to run it so thats only £80 and it can run other stuff to (total 750 watts)
Interesting idea, but wouldn’t a petrol genny be a bit on the loud side ?
good way to save money, but a bit of a carry on to warm a pie up though

PMSFL! Brilliant!
no its just the thing for heating up pies and haddock pasties
WHAT about useing a INVERTER and then you can use a normal micro-wave on 220volts so it should be cheaper.
all good ideas but i,ve been told if you use a home micro with an inverter the power output can be a bit dodgy its not really a question of what i,m going to buy as thats all ready taken care of,and the lad at auto electrics is going to fit it for me, its just how to mount it without buying a £150 walnut fronted genuine swedish trucker lookalike plastic coated cupboard
I personally would never take the top bunk out…its a great storage area for all the crap we have to carry around…what i would be inclined to do though is fit a piece of ply or similar board…on top of the bed and the goodies can be screwed down…i would assume an inverter is the best solution…a generator is too noisy…will get nicked o/night…and would certainly annoy others around you…
i have looked into this in the past, and at the end it was no different in price which way i decided to go, ie 240v oven & inverter or 24v oven.
as of where to mount it, can you not fashion a bracket that mounts where your bunk mountings are?
paul
yeh but inverters cost a mint and 24v microwave ovens are ■■■ and have to be hard-wired but these
are only 50 sovs
took the top bunk out because theres more than enough room in a megaspace anyhow,3 big lockers up top,2 huge underbunk cupboards and 2 pull out drawers under the bed. as for that petrol genny, you wouldn,t have one or two to sell would you harry
yeah thought so

thats right, i wouldnt. or if i did i might tell you which of the ten or so people selling gennys on ebay i was wouldnt i?
thats how i run the electric stuff in my truck which includes microwave and kettle and it also runs a proper hoover
24 volt microwave wired in direct to the batteries is the easiest and cheapest solution in the long run. That’s what I’ve used for the past 3 years and had no problems at all. When parked up for extended periods I have used it for a total cooking time of well over an hour with no problem starting the truck. Also with a microwave you don’t need a kettle as you can boil water with the oven.
Running it through an inverter would require the inverter to be wired straight to the batteries anyway due to the draw and an inverter with enough power will be expensive.
Petrol generator just seems like to much hassle, and having to keep buying petrol will soon add to the cost.
Whatever route you go down, make sure it is mounted very securely as you really don’t want that flying about the cab ion the event of an accident. If that comes flying across the cab it could remove your head. Of course the one consolation is, with it being a microwave it would at least remove it quickly.

well its true that it might be hassle to keep it in the cab i keep it in my trailer locker which i keep locked. it is on a slider.
but i use it at least twice a day to microwave a full meal like a curry or sausage mash and peas and in 4 months it has used half a tank of petrol and the tank only takes 7 pints so its not expensive to run and it knocks out 880 watts which is a hell of a lot of juice. its not an idea for everyone but it works for me and it was only 50 quid brand new and i thought i would pass it on and im sorry people are being so negative saying i am trying to flog them instead of just trying to offer some help.
this job is ■■■■■■ i am an old continental hand and people used to accept (and give) help and they just dont do that any more so perhaps its best if the poles and checks do it because at least they help each other
Harry
HARRY MONK. SORRY mate but i do not think that people are deliiberately
disagreeing with you but in todays modern stress filled life evry one will all ways go for the easiest way to do the job, and although the idea is good
I for one would rather use the new system called MOPPAC AS THIS GIVES 240volts as well as many other advantages and jobs it can do,
cheers pete i have never heard of a moppac what is that?
are you in dortmund all th e time or just now in the lorry i used to go there every week, get your t forms done at shalter A and shalter D shalter means window as im sure you know and then there was the tankshine then and we could only go there with 200 liters and they used to dip you but they never got me.!
I live here in dortmund and when i am at work drive a roadtanker for a german company, yes the days of the fuel tank schein and only allowed 200 liters at every border, which is now long gone except when you are doing
the non EU countrys, so you was lucky withthe dips better than some,
Right underneath is a link to the site where you can read about the system one of the O/D,s NORTH SURREY HAULAGE has got it fited to his lorry
cheers for the link to moppac pete that looks really good i have never seen one before but i bet it is expensive!
i like the idea of running aircon and heater from it, having the petrol genny on the truck was good for me but this MOPPAC looks the dogs ■■■■■■■■ do you know how much it is?
only having a bit of a laugh harry ,dont take it the wrong way
