Fitting a Carpoint wide angle Mirror

Oh dear! Here we go!
I’ve just bought a wide angle mirror for a Truck from Amazon. It is a good looking piece of equipment, and I am pleased with it. However it was made in Hong Kong for the Dutch firm Carpoint, and it seems to also contain a Chinese Puzzle to amuse the buyers.
At the bottom of the Mirror there is a Slot, just over 2" long and about 3/16" wide, on the front side of this slot there is a downward piece of plastic exactly the same size. This is on the casing of the Mirror.
Now, there is a 2" x 1/2" piece of channel which has two holes drilled into one of the sides, then a piece of flat plate 2" x 1/2" with a hole at one end, fashioned to accept a bolt head. There is also a bolt to fit this.
Here’s the Chinese Puzzle, how on earth does all this go together to fix to a normal side Mirror. ? Has anybody else bought one ? I you have could you please give me an idea on how to do it.
The photos are all downside up.
