Fitting a air horn to a Merc

I want t fit a new hon to my Actros, its just a standard scania air horn nothing fancy, but its got to be better than the standard pip pip one that Merc fit.

Just wondered if any of you lads have fitted air horns to a Merc and know where I can get my air feed, had a quick look under the cab today to see what was there in the way of air feeds, but couldnt see any blanked off pipes or banks of pipes etc on the n/s where the standard horn is fitted…

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

With any motor you are best to take your feed off air tank one just cut pipe and put a t junction on then run your supply from there just as long as you dont touch any pipes to do with your brakes no prob half hour job. I knew a lad who ran his air feed for his train horns off drivers seat. Everytime he blew the horn his seat dropped

Try mr.Vain he fitted horn’s to a Scania.Same idea’s to fit both im sure.

The official place is between the chassis rails just in front of the fifth wheel under the cat walk. Theres a block with several 8mm(I think  )pipes feeding into it, with threaded ports feeding out that are blanked off. Either tee into one of these pipes, or tap into one of the ports. I’m not sure but I think they’re all secondry circuits which is what you should be tapping into, the way to test is remove a blank(REMEMBER THEY’RE UNDER PRESSURE :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: ) and see in which circuit the pressure drops.

easy mate i put one on my actros, theres a blank thread on the air tank just drain the tank unscrew it and replace it with pipe for horn, i put one of the train horns on and just connected the wires from the origanol horn to the solenoid on the train horn so it works when you press the horn button on the end of the indicator stalk, took me less than hour start to finish and been on 4 years now

So you get fed up of people giving a camp wave when you ‘toot’ your horn too, I can ■■■■ more viciously than an Actros horn

just remember to disconnect it and swap back to standard for MOT if you do it the way i did, i never seen a vosa man jump so high when he checked the horn and his mate was down the next pit :open_mouth:

Thanks all for the replies, will have a play at the weekend
