They know you have a license so they are really just checking your not a total mess. Oh and obviously want to see your road attitude.

Assuming you’re
A not a terrible driver
B not an aggressive raging type

You can’t really fail an assessment

Oh no! they won’t even allow aggression now. What are you supposed to do when a car cuts you up, smile and wave?

It’s allowed but maybe they don’t want it in their motors lol

basically turn up show them you can drive without being a muppet and do as they say then not my first choice job but gonna hack it for a few weeks to get a bit of experience until my license comes back with my class1 on it 1 good thing is it not bad money to start on £10 a hour and the depot 2 min from my house

cheers

Well I am averaging two assessments a week now and being a brilliant driver it is not a problem. I have just got to stop nutting people

then if you pass they will arrange for your brain to be removed and replaced with one that will turn you into the most ignorant person alive, then you will fit in with most of their drivers. I should know collected from most of there sites in the sw.

i wont let them remove my brain as wont be there long enough hopefully only be there a week or 2 tops as may even sign up with a different agency if they dont find me class1 work only with this agency atm as its who my dad uses but me and my dad wont take any messing about and the agency know im not afraid to ask him anything any time ay or night if hey try getting me to do something they shouldnt be as we dont take any sh-- off anyone

More and more of these waste management sites now. I went into Martins about 3 weeks ago and sat there in my cab just wanting to get out of there. I was wanting to have my sandwiches but not in there it stunk so bad! I saw a family of rats the size of puppies scurry across one of the piles of rubbish and thought “this is not better than an office window”! Running up to Scotland from Carlisle is a nice office window but sitting in these recycling places is not something that office workers envy.

Just saying

Sometimes if you stick to your guns you get better work but other times they ignore you and make you sweat. Hope they come back with something better for you.

unforuntly you gotta do what you gotta do to gain some driving experience will only be for a few weeks id rather heavy whitegoods than horrible smelly wet recycling that make you feel ill but fair play to people that do recycling all the time they gain my respect after some of the stuff ive seen today it not a easy or nice job from my view not the job for me

Yep, you gotta just get on with it! :sunglasses:

I did a shift or 2 (in my youth) in a fish gutting factory. My job was hoovering the fish guts off the floor, and sometime the hoover nozzle would get blocked. So you just shoved your hand down it, and clear it out. One lad (who was on his first day) was looking very green, and when he saw me clear the nozzle, it all became too much for him!

I had to clean/hoover that up as well! :open_mouth:

how did driving assessment go ? what did they observe on the assessment, just that you was competent and could drive safe I am guessing?

driving assessment went fine ive done 2 1 for recycling and one for dhl on them both i explained i was a complete novice at the job which sometimes they apprreciate you being completely honest and show youre willing to learn theyre just taking you out on a little run with various types of road to make sure you dont drive like a idiot and use all youre mirrors and signals blindspots etc on dhl once i got back to the depot i have to reverse it onto a bay and thy guy explained about the tail lift and other bits on the truck i wasnt sure about i found with dhl the guy was extremely helpful so dont let these driving assessments worry you as theyre not as strict as a driving test its all just to check youre not a coplete muppet with no common sense
good luck on any you get given ill be coming off agency monday and going class1 ramping for a local company fed up with being mucked about by my agency already only been with them a few weks
