First time of seeing Operation Stack in all its glory

I’ve done a delivery to the Euro Tunnel terminal at Folkstone today so I had the pleasure of driving around the diversion route from junc 8-11 on the M20 and I must say I was quite surprised, I thought it would be a lot chaotic than it was.
I must say though to the lads on here who do continental work and have to or have done in the past put up with being stuck in the stack I don’t envy you one bit and I take my hat off to you all. God knows what you do to keep yourselves occupied as there is only so much tv, sleeping, reading a book or going on the laptop you can do.
Also praises go to the Kent Police who in a terrible situation do their best to keep disruption to a minimum and try to keep things moving. Somthing has to be done by both the French and British governments to sort the problem as it seems not a week goes by before you here of another Operation Stack being set up.
The people of Kent make me laugh though, moaning and raging about how long it’s took them to drive to work/ go to the shops etc and saying a truck park should be built to accommodate the trucks, yet they would be the first ones kicking a stink up saying, " not in my back yard!" If one was planned to be built near them. :unamused:

I dread to think, naked cage fighting with spurs around an firey oil barrel I imagine akin to a scene from Mad Max 2

Nah, Alder, think you’ll find that activity is going on in Calais

Part of the problem is down to Ashford council allowing new houses to be built along the Eastern side of the A 2070 Bad Munstereifel way. This is just south of the old Ashford lorry park. This land should have been allocated for the Stack carpark, but speculators got their way.

As for the current problem, the will to do something will only be there when the lorries are parked up along the Mall, in Hyde Park, around Parliament Square and throughout the City. Bring London to a complete standstill.

Just been on news, cost £700,000 for past three weeks paying 112 Kent officers per day!

They’re now realising it’s a national chronic problem and not local!

so glad our decision makers cotton on quick!

Now it seems to be all about ‘disruption’ on the Channel Tunnel.Nothing to do with the ferries. While the ferry operators have gone for the nuclear under capacity option to answer the threat to their business from the tunnel with obvious results. :unamused:
