first of all i would like to say hi to you all …
i have been out of trucking for about 5 yrs as i had a change of job .
i have just been offered a job back in the class two …i have to go for a driving assessment tomorrow and i haven’t driven a truck for 5 yrs so i am a little bit stressed …i used to drive all over the UK delivering sofas to a furniture company but since changing job i haven’t driven one …lets just hope it all comes flooding back hopefully
It will. Don’t try and drive like a learner but don’t rush about.

Be honest & don’t try to ‘wing it’ if the assessor is any good, he will see straight through it.
Just tell him that you are a bit rusty & ask him/her confirm the controls to familiarise yourself, & don’t forget to do your walk round checks.
I got assessed for the job I’m in now, he chucked me the keys & said off we go then, I said that I was just going to have a walk round to check her out & he said that he’d checked her out already, so I replied ‘Yea, but I havn’t’ & proceeded to do the check.
Don’t hit any kerbs.
Don’t drive with one hand on the wheel.
Don’t speed or cut anybody up.
Don’t CRASH !
Don’t be Cocky, but show him that you have the confidence to do a professional job.

The assessment’s not in Milton Keynes/Wolverton by any chance is it ?
Our assessor was supposed to do an assessment last night, but he started at 5am & went home at 18.00.
Don’t get stressed, driving is for patient people. If it is at my place you will need a lot of patience as there is a bit of waiting around to get loaded/unloaded.

no its a a large firm in Nottingham …its not so much stress its more anxious just waiting for a phone call …i do miss driving all over the uk and used to get lots of p.o.a while waiting to be tipped at stores with 5 trucks in front of you …plenty of sleep
well sorry its been a while but i finally got allocated a agency job and no assessment…
they sent me a txt out of the blue on friday the 3rd/5th telling me to report for work at a food company . turned up for work this morning at 5 o clock and was given a 61 plate daf 220 18t …chacked my run and found it to be 13 drops in the nottinghamshire area …hucknall , arnold bullwell and all over ending up is newark and east bridgford …it came back to me just like you all said it would so thanks for the advice …a little stressing at times but enjoyed it …they asked me to come back so we will see were it leads thank you all again chip2366
