Hi all so I have my first job since passing my test. Early start tomorrow - how should I record my first entry into the tacho ? Basically I work in an office 5 on 4 off so I’m right in the middle of my days off after last working on Monday. I guess I will need to keep these recorded too. Apologies if this is asked all the time
Yes need to record everything for past 28 days can keep records on paper assertation form or what ever it’s called no need to do a manual entry.
I’d also recommend watching few you tube videos on how to use a tacho machine unless you have used it before.
Give you an idea how insert card change modes do entries etc
My advice? It probably will elicit a few raised eyebrows but as an inexperienced driver who’s probably inexperienced with digi tachographs my thoughts would be…… insert card, when it asks “rest until now?” Press ok. If stopped by the authorities explain that it’s your first job in HGV’s and prior to that you were backpacking around Asia knitting Yak wool pullovers.

I think you’ll find knitting counts as other work.
Only if you are knitting for hire & reward and haven’t covered over your fifth wheel.

I’d do a manual entry , there very easy ( even I can do them ) , if you don’t you’ll just keep leaving it until the day you get stopped , then you’ll wish you had .
As I say very easy & I have to get my daughters partner to sort my phone out on a regular basis , so if you can use a phone you’ll piss a manual entry
