Afternoon everyone!
I Passed my cat c on Tuesday and ever since I’ve literally been sending cvs out none stop.
I revieved a phone call before and I’ve managed to get myself an interview tomorrow afternoon for a company called h&m disttribution in newton le willows!
I’ve gotta admit I’m abit nervous as I’m not really sure what to expect?
Just wondering if anybody has any information on this company or if anybody has any experience of working for them?
Good Luck at Interview. No harm in being a bit blunt and asking how long their longest employee has served for the company etc. This will give you a better indicator of the quality of the company than some opinions posted on a forum.
Let us know how you get along.

No info on company but good luck all the same
Update: my interview today went well, got shown round and told the ins and outs of what the job involved, basically it’s local multi drop work, I got told they will be in touch to arrange for Me to go back for an assesment drive!
Then on returning home I received a call from ccc waste in Kirkby asking for me to go for an assessment drive on Monday morning, they told me I would be out all day…is this Normal?
The only thing that I’m concerned about is the fact that having only passed on Tuesday im still yet to recieve my license back or my cpc card, am I actually legal to drive with only the pass certificates for both? Or do I have to wai?
Any replies would be appreciated.
I’m sure u can drive, All day for an assessment is weird tho.

Depends what they mean by a ‘day’ I suppose. It can be several hours if they do paper tests, walk round checks, couple/uncouple and a long road test, plus familiarisation, health & safety briefings etc
It may be a short day, but the message is not to plan to do much else with your day before or after.
Paul - I did an all day assessment with spotmix, they do the same stuff as ccc kirkby , involved going out in the morning with regular driver to show me the ropes and such. Afternoon involved me driving and dealing with the RO-RO skips.
See a lot of CCC skips/ drivers round the sites we deliver to and they all seem to have nice kit but that’s really as much info I have.

Cheers for the info mate, yeah I’ve applied for work with spot mix, waiting for a phone call from first choice too,
The only thing that I’m stressing is still not having my license or cpc back, oh and the fact I’ve not used my digi card since I’ve had haha. The fella at ccc is well aware that I’m a newbie though so hopefully he will help me out!

Well I hope it all goes well for you mate. Spotmix offered me the job there and then but they wanted me to start the Monday after my assessment on the Friday. I couldn’t because I would have lost a months wage if I just left my job at the time.
Don’t worry about not having used digi before, its pretty self explanatory and the other drivers will give you a hand. Plus if you have a day assessment that’s the time to say “how do I do this, that n t’other”
All the best mate, keep us updated of how it goes!

Thanks a lot mate, I’ll be sure to update!
I’ve literally been applying for anything and everything…just filling out and application form for CCF.
The only thing I’ve not really looked into is agency work, but that’s only because I’m currently in full time work and it’s to much of a risk to jack that in for agency where I won’t be guaranteed 5 days a week.
Now that I’ve got my license I’m itching to get going!
Paul J:
I work for CCF , what branch you trying to join?
Its working with Moffetts and building sites.
Great for gaining experience and they may put you through your class 1 if they need cover drivers.
It doesn’t actually say which branch?! I had an interview last year though to be a yard operative at foster street but ended up getting a job closer to home.
I’ve got a counter balance and reach truck license so hopefully that will benefit my application!

Foster street is Liverpool.
My branch. I’ll fire you over a pm tomorrow. [THUMBS UP SIGN]
Good luck with your interview. Have you seen Jeepers Creepers or The Hills Have Eyes?
Always think of them for some reason as I enter N-le-W.
