First HIAB job next week

Hi
My first HIAB job is coming up next week. I completed the two day course (mostly spent in a classroom) last month. It should be an interesting day to say the least.
Any tips/advice/help would be most welcome. Thanks.

Take your time, moving too quickly leads to problems
Get your stabiliser legs properly down on solid ground
Take time to check that the ground will take the pressure

Are you doing residential area work?
Don’t put stab legs on a pavement without your “big foot” pad
Use cones if you have them to try to keep people out of your working area
Use all round vision, if people are potentially likely to wander into the work area don’t get overly focussed just on the load movement to the exclusion of everything else
Remember your overhead environment, watch for overhead obstacles
Never lift over a car or similar
Do not drive onto block paving

If a hose bursts, stop immediately.
Have Pirtek (or similar) phone number readily available
Remember your HASAWA (1974) “duty of care” to everyone around you, whether by your acts or omissions

Best of luck

Many thanks for your reply, it’ll be an interesting day for sure. I’m grateful for the advice. Hopefully I’ll not have to deal with bursting hoses but I’m glad you’ve reminded me of it.

So come on BTN-how is it going?
