First ever manual entry...and cocked it

The fires of hell will rain down on you, people will point fingers at you every where you go, there will be no getting away from it you will never live it down, it might get to a point when you think why don’t they just put me up against a wall and shoot me, that will come to you after a week of no sleep worrying about it

You’re on a slippery slope now Rob “panicking” about infringements, next you’ll be parking in laybys eating tuna straight from the can on your 9 hours off ready for another 15 hour day, and worrying about that juggernaut coming on the slip road and leaving you hanging in the middle lane, or not being able to pick your nose because both hands need to be on the wheel at 10-2 position!

Yep you’ve recorded the whole time your card was out as other work!!

This is the most common tacho in use,

youtu.be/8TTf64zC5uk
What unit and year is it?

Nite Owl:
Newer tachos are easier I think. First they show you what time your card was ejected. Ok. Then they show you the current time (which you can turn back) and whatever mode you want. Ok. Then repeat step two until you reach the current time. Prevents what robroy did from happening I think.

Feel free to explain that to someone who’s idea of a manual entry is to take the chart out of the tacho and fill it in on the back using the graph provided. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

There’s hope for him yet.Because he seems to have actually made the thing work without staring blankly at it for a whole shift and wondering where the ‘proper’ one is to put the ‘proper’ chart in,as in my case. :smiling_imp:

When I did agency work I once sat for 10 minutes looking at an analogue cassette type tacho wondering where my card went! [emoji28]

On my first ever shift on agency I confidently put the chart in and cracked on with my day. Only to discover at the end of the shift that I’d put it in upside down! Apologies and handwritten entries made, I scuttled away. Only to do it again on the next shift…!

Making the jump from proper Paper chart and proper tacho to using a weird credit/debit card type thing reminds me of this. It’s sad but it looks like they’ve got Rob now. :smiling_imp:

Yep I’m a modern trucker at last done my first manual entry. :sunglasses:

Normally don’t bother my arse, but circumstances prevailed where I could have…lost money! :open_mouth:

So…started 1130 did not get my truck back until 1600, was then warned by a fellow driver that the [zb] s maybe would not pay me if no record of lost 4 and half hours.
Going on the theory they do not need any excuses not to part with cash, I lost my ‘Manual entry virginity’ :sunglasses:  …and [zb] ed it up.

Done everything right (or thought I had) …even with help from driver trainer!

My last shift was last Sunday, where I did 3 hours driving before parking up for weekly rest, thing is those 3 hours driving showed up on my dash readout as 3 hours done on first day (yesterday).
Ok, so I only went on to do another 3 hours driving total (after a break) so at end of day it was showing a total of 6 hours for that day.

Now tbh I ain’t too bothered, but just out of curiousity, and for arguments sake, if I had done a legal 9 hours drive yesterday, it would have shown my driving total of 12 hours.

I’m totally devastated and have not slept all night… :unamused:  , but can anybody explain what I did wrong, just in case the unlikely event comes up again where I need to make another manual [zb] entry. :imp:
Cheers in advance.

First one to say I should have listened at DCPC gets a slap.

Shouldn’t be on the road in my opinion if you can ■■■■ up a manual entry.

Awww bless you little troll, are you getting desperate.
Shouldn’t be allowed on the road if you drive into the same situation more than once on the same shift, what was it again…2 slip roads and then 3 overtakes that you can’t even get right.
On the plus side I can’t wait for this weeks episode. What are you going to screw up this week and blame on other drivers? It’s ignorant bullying steering wheel attendants like you that give this industry a bad name Rowley010.

Yep your not worth any more of an explanation regarding the exact chain events in my situations. So I’ll just leave you to think what you do about me. Kisses.

im surprised to see you referring to your mate jake like that…i thought you were bum buddy clones??

He He - Despite being something of a habitual maker of manual entries (oo-err) and often having said that the reason drivers have problems with them is lack of practice, last week I did much the same as Robroy. Jumped into the unit I had been allocated and popped my card in. No response. Ejected it and tried again. No response. Tried a couple more times before walking to the other side of the yard and asking the shunter if I could try my card in his unit (was the problem my card or the head unit?). Popped the card in - Welcome screen etc just as expected. Clicked through all the prompts to get the card read, then ejected it again. WRONG…!! In my haste I forgot all about the manual entries and ended up doing exactly what Robroy did and recorded all the time since card last ejected as Work. The penny only dropped a couple of hours later when I saw that my driving time was a couple of hours more than expected. At that point I knew exactly what had happened and also that no doubt an infringement notice would be winging my way.

Fast forward a few days and the error of my ways was pointed out by our driver trainer. Thing is, not only did I manage to get an EU infringement on the day for “Insufficient Daily Rest”, I also got a WTD one for exceeding 6 hours work without a Break. To cap it all, my entire depot would have been infringement-free for the week but for my efforts. I think I can class that as A Result!

Since that first encounter with manual ■■■■ entries way back in Feb, I’ve just gone back to my old ways and don’t bother with them at all again. .
I could try and figure it out, and I bet it would not be that difficult. but it’s a strong case of can’t even be arsed to find out, …life’s too short.
