First Driving lesson tomorrow class C

Hi all

Well got my first class C lesson tomorrow at Boston LGV, don’t know what to expect on the first day  but looking forward to it will let you know how I get on.

Probably get an introduction to the truck and your instructor. You’ll have a little drive to establish a starting point. Possibly get a short “demo” drive from the instructor, during which he will explain some of what he is doing (and why). Relax and enjoy - Class C is really no different from driving a car (with a bit more length, width etc). Just remember mirrors, mirrors, mirrors…

Drive how your instructor teaches you too & you won’t go far wrong.

Remember to look in your mirrors, after you’ve looked in your mirrors you need look some more.

If you get bored of looking in your mirrors & think that looking in your mirrors again can be of no possible benefit . . . this is the time to be looking in your mirrors.

There will come a time when you might feel the need to rebel, you will try to convince everyone around you that you should be looking where you’re going, through the windscreen & not the ■■■■■■■ mirrors. This is a good time to be looking in your mirrors.

When/if you finally pass, one day shortly thereafter you will thank the God’s that you looked in that mirror. Finally, you will understand why it’s important to look in your mirrors.

All points well made but you missed another one.

When you come to a stop alway look over your right shoulder as well as checking mirrors.

Best of luck fella.

+1

If your neck isn’t aching at the end of the first day, you haven’t been looking in your mirrors enough.

Along with the constant use of your mirrors and checking 'all 'blinspots, be continuously constantly aware of the ever continuous changing pattern off circumstances on the road, & off the road too. Enjoy your training & if you don’t understand anything Do ask your trainer .

Good luck and enjoy it - if it can be enjoyed.

Like the man said, keep looking in the mirrors, I failed my first test and one of them was for not using mirrors enough/signaling THEN looking in mirrors. Don’t forget it’s Mirror Signal Manouver.

On a side note I passed at the third attempt with only two minors, though to be fair the second test had to be abandoned because the range changer got stuck in low range!

Hi

Well
day one went ok getting use to the gears it has a slap-over box getting use to setting of in forth gear.
Start at 08.30 finish at 16.00 got home at 16.50 in bed for 19.00 head spinning :open_mouth:

Day two morning went ■■■■ up got into a panic then the gear box locked me out at the lights, but got out of it just. had to dip the clutch in natural. at dinner I was thinking I wonder if I can make a living from picking up dog ■■■ anything but this.

The afternoon went much better just

dont worry about all the little things that go wrong at beginning of training thats why you are being taught and not just given the licence , by the end of it your instructor will have you ready for that test , it will all come together on the day

good luck

Just think positive smyrl, your trainer is there to help you, you’ll soon pick it up, perseverance & concentration!

As said above but do try to relax and enjoy the training. You need to get out of CAR mode and use those mirrors.

The day before my Class C test I was hopeless, screwed everything up. On test day it all fell into place.

Listen to your instructor as he knows how to get people to a test standard.

Hi thanks for all your support

Day three not to good messed up about ten times with parked cars hanging back to much or not hanging back, getting up to speed quickly, not seeing sings as soon as I should. Reading the road ahead.
and on A roads you get n*bs over tacking you just to cut you up. :imp: It feels like your doing 70 MPH when you’re only doing 30 MPH so he is all ways saying come on!! The tax runs out soon or what number are you looking for i.e. house number

Must try harder

A lot of people have said that day three is the worst for things going wrong, & then everything seems to fall in place & suddenly everything makes sense, so look upward & onward , & think ‘Positive’, have you been through your show me tell me questions !
Good luck with your test whenever it is
