First driving job

I got a call from one of the agency’s I am with today
saying can you do 1 drop in a 7.5 ton truck and no loading.
I thought this sounds to good to be true form them so I said
I will do it. 10 minutes after saying I would do it I got a call saying
can you be there 1 hour earlier so I said I will try. When I got there
they said we want you to go to worksop then to sheffield then back
to the yard in worksop and then go to birmingham to drop off and pick
up at same place and bring it back to the yard for tomorrows run.

So I went to the first place to pick up and had to wait
about 1 1/2 hours to get loaded. I then had to get to
sheffield to drop a pallet off then bring one back to the
yard. When I got back to the yard they said there was not
enough time to get the birmingham job done ect.

I did not do much driving most of the time was waiting to
load/unload ect. I was probably a little silly as I took the vehicle
out with a crack in the screen which did go in to the wiper area
and when I got to the first drop I noticed that mirror that points
down to the front wheel was missing also.

The good points was the driving and how friendly the other drivers are.

Bad points where the company keep phoning to see where you are and the warehouse staff was not to helpful.

I am working for another agency tomorrow doing bakeries work from rotherham to wales. I am in at 05:00 hours and double manning so
any tips are greatly received  .

DOUBLE MANNING IS GOOD KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS

I don’t profess to be or particularly want to become an expert in 7.5 tonner specs, but I’m pretty sure that the little kerb mirror isn’t always fitted on older ones as much as on HGVs.

Nice easy first run though…cool.

My tip for double manning on agency without the first idea of what the other fella is gonna be like:

Don’t do it.

I think the little kerb mirror should have been there on this vehicle as there was a bit of plastic there but no mirror. I will have a better look next time. I have already said yes to the double manning so lets just hope it all goes ok.

wales is a nice run m8
enjoy

good work mate.

I reckon you might be right.

Didn’t mean to sound know it all - ish about, just remembered some not having them…sorry.

I reckon it’s an ‘ok’ thing to be missing though, if there is such a thing as an ‘ok’ missing part.
