only been driving class 1 for 12 months and been send out in a rigid for the last couple of days instead of my usual artic. I definitely think an artic is way easier to drive than a rigid. It’s been like driving a canal boat lol massive horrible rear swing. Taking shunts to get round tight bends give me an artic any day respect to all the class 2 drivers.
We thank you for it. braces for the barrage of insults from the King of the Road Crowd
I drove rigid last week for 2 days
could I hell as like get it round corners. As for reversing
kept putting wrong lock on
(no problems at all in car) last time I drove one was about 10 years ago. Think it may be lorry environment
I told them at delivery point I’d only just passed test Seemed to work!
Haha, did you really say that dri-diddly?
Class 2 for a couple of day’s.
Commiserations mate. I feel sorry for rigid driver’s, I see the longing in their eyes, when they look at us Class 1 supremo’s.

Some of us class 1 drivers drive rigids for a living. My ■■■■ is big enough.

I hope you told everyone you met, that you, “usually drive an artic”, and that your, “only helping the TM out”…

Yes I screwed up good style and it felt appropriate at the time
I very often drive a 6 wheeler with a triaxle drag a good bit longer than Mr big iam artic man ,my usual saying is I normally drive the pick up which is true

No it’s not longing Just sympathy and pity for the big kid with big toy to compensate for a small part

But remember that things go in tight holes better when they’re rigid than they do if the bend in the middle.

It is. I found rigids very uncomfortable, probably because I drove crap ones (axors, iveco etc). The odd rental Scanias were good, just as comfortable as the units, just a slightly lower ride.
I was hoping for more bite’s tbh.
Got a few nibbles, must be the bait.
Good job I didn’t say rigid drivers haven’t got the bottle for class 1…
Are you still classed as a van ■■■■■■ if u have a big ■■■■ off trailer on the back of it?

Yeah solidarity brother! Thanks for bigging up all the tonka toy drivers out there. Means a lot to us.
Welcome to being a real man lol none of that jumping in the back for a 2 hr sleep us class 2 earn our real man status
Many many moons ago I once and only once drove our old Bedford TK 7.5 tonne box pantecnican thing with the worlds smallest gutless engine in it which also had a full size 2axle dolly type trailer behind it.
It only ever moved expanded foam on a contract for one customer and obviously the load weighed diddly squat.
It took me about a dozen attempts to get the trailer on the bay at the cutomers and there was acres of space ,when getting out of the cab finally the old git on the loading bay cheers and says "the young kid who normally drives that manages it first time every time "!!! “Get him to give you lessons.”
Respect to all of you driving things that do not bend in the right place or bend at all.
Artic every time for me .
I am still ■■■■ in a car and artic, can stick a rigid right where it belongs though

[/quote]Ahhhhh but in reality ( all joking aside ) have class 1 drivers got the bottle for driving a rigid??
Certainly sounds not! Class 1 must be a right cushy number then. Defo going for mine, fancy getting paid for doing virtually nothing
