first class 1 job offer

1st post guys so be nice
been driving class 2 for nearly 3 years then decided I wanted to get away from it and move onto the bigger motors.
working at a foodservice firm making £30k a year but the work is hard going, 15hour shifts, handballs, stairs and your never going fast enough for the office, and the routes never get completed unless its the guys who are clearly tipping on breaks etc.
anyway been offered a start with a haulage firm near Edinburgh, they don’t have a great reputation on this so wont name them but the works better, amazon-glenrothes to amazon-Peterborough then back, same journey twice, 4 on 4 off tramping. moneys about the same but I’m thinking purely for experience and the easier workload it wont be too bad a move.
anyone agree or disagree with this?

As far as class one starts go your not gonna get much easier than depot-depot trunking so I’d go for it.

We’re always nice.

that’s good then i’ll no be shy when I need advice on overnight parking then haha.
that’s my thought aswell, doing multi drops just now sometimes 20-30 drops a day so a trunk sounds like heaven and found out as well the trucks a new Volvo with fridge and micro etc so conditions are already better

Oh come on, at least give us a clue who it is… :grimacing:

To get some miles under your belt it’s great…hope the missus does not mind you being missing weekends quite often though !
Have fun.

be nice now like I said but its Pollock :open_mouth: . I did my assessment today and went great considering I only passed 10 days ago and compared to bidvest the place is ran like dream for the route i’ll be on. looking forward to starting with them and getting away from the chaos where I am.

Sounds like a good start, well done!

£8 per hour ish?

The job is fine. I knew two guys that worked with them a couple of years ago, not sure if they are still there but 30K plus is average so I have been told. They look after good drivers as well.
You may find you are sick of motorways before long though but it will be a nice change and good experience. Enjoy.

Just for a laugh weigh yourself now and in six months …my bet is a good half a stone heavier in October. No handballing and lots of motorway boredom = weight gain.
