First blowout!!!!

My first blowout was in roadworks too. M5 just north of Taunton driving a little MAN 8-150.
Both of the o/s back tyres went together for some reason.
It swayed around a bit until i could stop it and then waited in the roadworks for the tyrefitter to come out.
Was around 11pm and snowing.

Since when has a power interruption been an infringement…?

Perhaps I used the wrong terminology on my reply. If you have a power interruption on the tacho head whilst card is inserted it will flag up. Yes it is an event, but it it definitely shows up as an infringement on the analysis report.

I was using an 11 plate MAN at the time and our new trucks have an updated head unit so maybe it won’t flag up on the drivers card in the new heads, I don’t know. But when I’ve overnighted and had 12 or 13 in the cab I always start engine first before inserting my card. And no I don’t let it idle for 15 minutes neither!

I have noticed a lot of straps and parts of straps on the roads recently, must be the result of VOSA insisting that everything is superglued to the load deck…So they really are to blame in my opinion :wink:

Lot of damage for a blowout, I have had a couple or three on trailers, no big deal though just get out of the way and go to a safe place for the fitter is my first objective.

Power interruptions (and other faults/“events”) will certainly get recorded on the driver card - But they are not infringements!

Infringements are deviations from the Regs which could result in prosecution/sanction. A fault is just that - a fault.

Well I once got nicked for it one winter, and ended up in court :open_mouth: .
I was following a road salt spreader, the contents completely covered my batteries, everything suddenly went dead, no power, and I managed to steer it into the hard shoulder.
Got arrested and charged with… Salt on battery.

Thank you very much, I’m here all week… :sunglasses: :smiley:

<Groan…>

Had one this morning on the A15 on the unit, first time I’ve ever had a front one go on a loaded car transporter and it took some controlling!

I remember my first blow…

(Bugger the wife’s calling youl have to make the rest up for yourselves)…
