hi all
driving about up and down the motoroways i seem to notice quite a few trucks on the road that look like very well know companies but they havent got any livery on them, neither the cab nor the trailer, The ones that have stood out to me are ones that looke like Tosco trucks and a clothing chains Wag and drags. Also seen some vans that look like a very well know world wide parcel company vans but just plain brown and is only the driver uniform that gives the game way.
is it just cost cutting or are they not having livery to look in this day and age of “being green” so joe public doesnt notice their trucks on the road because they are just plain.
anyone else notice this??
cheers all.
Noticed a few Tesco trucks like this. Could be spare trailers/units that are ready for disposal and have been de-liveried in preparation. Or they could be halfway through having advertising changed. A lot of Tesco trailers seem to have the Agrippa system we are using. If you’ve seen any plain clothes DHL vehicles they now belong to Yodel and have just had the DHL logos removed, which was covered in another thread by Coffeeholic.
With regard to the clothing chain, if it`s Next you are talking about, the grey and black lorry and drags, I thought that was purely for a security point of view!! They must carry quite a high value load.
I used to drive for tesco, and the reason there’s no livery is so as they don’t get a million phone calls a day from Joe public complaining about their lorries
I’ve notced alot of companies that used to have fancy liveries now run plain white trucks with just a sticker on the door, I guess in these days where money is tight you can’t afford to splash out on something that effects the trucks resale value.
As for Tesco doing it I heard it makes them look like they’re using less trucks.
We run 140 units and 230 trailers in a mixed fleet of fridges, curtainside poultry trailers, bulk blowers and temp maintained chick trailers and i know of only 3 trailers that have our company name and logo on them, when i asked why we dont have our name on the wagon’s our TM said we dont sell any products with our name on (all supermarket own label products) so why draw attenton to ourselfs??
the brown sprinters are operated by a contractor who has quite a large fleet of them, big enough to have his own fitter and tyre fitter looking after them.
