i-m-h-o this should happen to all double deckers !
gadge hanging out the passenger window with a lynx can and a lighter.
That’s a fine cremation job, driver should get a job at our local crematorium, they get left with the bones as well.

According to the recovery firm that we take our trucks to, it’s normally wheel bearing failure or brakes (more likely having one sticking on slightly than over use) that cause trailer fires on motorways.
I’ve seen one or 2 they’ve bought in, the last one burned out the unit aswell, melted the cab, the only way you could tell the make, was by the cover on the air filter.

also, when an airbag fails, then the tyre can start scubbing against the underside of the trailer, it dosn’t take long before they go up.
I was caught up in that when they closed the m1 off
Give them credit I tho it was gonna be closed longer a hour and a halfway it was shut for then reopened
And credit to driver for dropping his trailer
It’s recovering them that’s a pain in t’arse.
Too high to stick on a trailer without chopping the roof off first.
Can’t tow them with burnt out hubs.
When I passed on way back recovery was there trailer and a wrecker looks like there was pining to chop it up

Ok then, let’s ban car transporters while we are at it. They are very tall and unstable. We could add containers to the banned list. Very unstable due to bad loading and their high center of gravity.(deckers actually have a very low center of gravity if loaded properly). Fridges with hanging beef too maybe.
Now maybe it’s just me, but when I see a rollover or bridge strike being reported, its very rare that it’s a double decker involved. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but I think the drivers seem more aware of their height when pulling one and are less likely to have a mis-hap.
