Finger is getting pointed at the RHA

The government is looking into who started the fuel panic buying. Finger is firmly being pointed in the direction of the RHA.

“We believed that it was them,’ says a government source. ‘Firstly, it’s about motive. No one else round that table stood to benefit from making that information public, aside from the RHA who want EU drivers back in force because they are addicted to cheap European labour and find it painful having to contemplate increasing wages.”

The article also points out that the RHA represents the RHA and NOT drivers. The truth is getting out to Joe Public, lets hope there is a backlash against the RHA and the media who stoked the flames

Point it at them? I’d force it up their bottom. A big bony finger too. Sideways.

even if its proven that it was the rha all that will happen is the chairman will resign with a golden handshake and found some other cushy number elsewhere. I read somewhere that those that blocked the m25 might be facing manslaughter charges because the amberlances etc couldnt get through.

of course when this happends everyone will claim the chairman is a friend of boris

Charging them for manslaughter is reaching a bit - you would have to charge every plonker in crowds walking to football games too.

football games tend to be sheduled . Not that i have ever been but i have seen the signs i belive they route the fans a certain way to limit congestion

I know it did zoom off the RHA point but those protesters should be charged guilty all of them ,strip the wealthy ones ,sue all of them…

“A Leak”?
Someone, somewhere, “leaked” what the Government and industry were really saying?
If there was nowt to worry about, why was this meeting so secret?
.
Just a simple statement to correct the “misleading account” from any other Government would have sufficed. But when a minister from this particular Gov says “Dont panic”…guess what…
.
Of course, it is really all the fault of the bogeyman anti-Brexiteers…Everything that is wrong is due to them and the EU, after all, we are a country of generous, intelligent people, who wouldn`t behave foolishly or selfishly in any way at all.

If you look on the RHA website they have posted a denial that the leak did not come from them… Ahem

Even though when a leak was reported the blame was pointed at no one yet the RHA within hours released a statement saying it wasn’t them I think they doth protest to much

You obviously didn’t read the article.
Just to save you the hassle, I’ll quote one part of it

It was held under the Chatham House Rule: a convention designed to allow participants to speak freely on the understanding that their remarks will be regarded as off the record and will under no circumstances be made public.

It was a get together of powows of the industry to discover what is going wrong with UK transport.
I know you have a hard on for the right of politics and a special erection for brexit but may I suggest you stop eating the magic mushrooms and maybe that will help with the conspiracy theory hallucinations.

You dont think about hauliers and brexit on mushrooms.

Without defending anyone breaching a confidentiality agreement, the irony remains of being pleased that Joe Public gets to know the truth, whilst condemning leaks. Or is it only sone aspect of some truths that should be out there?
As a comment on the subject:

Conspiracy hallucinations?
They are out there aplenty. Lots of allegations with precious little evidence as yet.
The more fuss made about the leaks, the less attention given to the substance of the issue.

I believe it most likely was them, I also think that the driver shortage falls mainly at their feet as they never stood up for UK drivers when that pointless, insulting money making scam called the CPC was introduced to us.They should have told them to stuff it where the sun don’t shine instead of rolling over and taking it. I paid for mine in 2015 when my grandfathers rights expired and remember thinking what an absolute waste of time and money it was, 7 hours of listening to someone banging on about not eating hamburgers and getting more exercise for one of the modules. Really■■? How on earth have lorry drivers survived this far without it ? How come bricklayers, plasterers, roofers, car sprayers, panel beaters etc don’t have to ‘retrain’ every year for 7 hours? This is one of the many reasons why we are short of drivers here in the UK and while we have no one to stick up for us it will only get worse.I stopped driving HGV’s 3 years ago, swapped my lorry for a 3.5 tonne sprinter that I drive to and from work, 50 hrs a week at £14 an hr as opposed to £11 an hr for 60 hrs, no CPC no tacho and no running costs to get to work . A no brainer isn’t it ?

I know quite a few HGV drivers that now drive vans.
I also find it quite funny that there is some plan to fit vans with tachographs.
Over regulation is a pain in the ■■■.

Someone who is closer to the DVSA than I am has had word that the world of white van man is going to change significantly in the future, the plans seem to go a bit further than just the tachos.

Over Regulation is a pain. Stopping someone from driving too long, without any sort of legal oversight isnt too much to expect IMHO. I fully expect some to tell of how they have done this for x years etc etc, and never killed more than a few dozen oldies who didnt get out the way quick enough. But getting away with summat doesn`t make it safe.

I`m all up for more regs here to stop undercutting of legitimate transport by those who work excessive hours.

Sounds like white van man is in a world of pain.

Its about time i never understood why you can drive a 3.5t van on a car licence with no DCPC yet you have to have it for 7.5t and above.

BBC news today -

A couple had a lucky escape when their van rolled forward while they were in the back - and ended up perched on a 22ft (7m)-high ledge.

Signwriters Bruce and Amelia Isaac were working in the back of the van on the promenade at Westward Ho! in north Devon when they felt the vehicle move.

The pair, from Barnstaple, jumped clear and the van came to a halt, Italian Job-style, on the edge of the drop.

The van was later lifted clear and no-one was hurt.

The drama unfolded at about midday on the resort’s promenade.

The couple had been working on some signs in the back of the parked van.

With echoes of the 1960s film The Italian Job, in which a gang’s van ends up precariously balanced on a mountain ledge, the van started moving forward.

“The handbrake had slipped and it was very windy so as we were working we became aware that the van was moving,” said Mr Isaac.

"We jumped out and tried to put the handbrake on - it was scary.

“It was like the Italian Job, but the Westward Ho! Job.”

It was too late to stop the van which became lodged over the promenade.

“We were a bit shaken, but thank God no-one was hurt. It could have been horrible,” said Mr Isaac.

A friend with a crane hoisted the van back onto the promenade.
