Back in july 2009 I was caught with 5 immigrants in the trailer at calais for which i was fined £500, I appealed against it and got the fine reduced to £250 however I have missed the deadline to appeal against this fine.I have until the 12.02.10 to pay, so basically im wanting to know what happens if I don’t bother paying the fine, do they just impound the truck next time it goes through dover or send the bailiffs to my home

well i got a 13 day sentence for not paying £250 about 17 years ago. but it’s ok, they can’t take you in or out of prison at a weekend. so if you go down on a monday afternoon, you’ll be out by 0830 friday.
you can’t be sentence for the same offence twice, so you’ll be in the clear.
or you could offer to pay £5 per week.

I shouldnt have to pay anything at the end of the day as i was only doing my job, But how do they enforce payment by way of baliffs or by impounding the truck untill the owner pays the fine

Whether you were doing your job or not is too late to argue. According to the law you didn’t do your job properly. Their evidence is that they found bodies in your trailer.
You had the opportunity to appeal against your reduced fine, which you say you failed to take up.
The law will catch up with you one way or another, for small fines I think it’s usually bailiffs. £250 is a small fine.
Don’t forget they’ll add the costs of recovery to your fine, ie the hire of those bailiffs. So you’ll have to pay £300 or probably more, if they send the bailiffs round.
I’d offer to pay it off at £5 a week personally. They can decide that £5 a week is too small and demand more.

Trucknet can even offer you a bailiff if you require one, an ex driver is quite proud of himself for taking the last crumbs out of your kids mouths
Well I have just got off the phone to them and it turns out the operator is jointly liable so if neither of us pay the fine the truck gets impounded so its all good
