Fines in spain

Several years ago I was fined at Burgos for having the headboard on a Globetrotter illuminated, and when I worked for GBE ,I was parked up for 3 days until a fine was paid at Sunbilla as we only carried photocopies of the registration document ,but they were rubber stamped by the Spanish Embassy in London which was not acceptable to the red caps.

Just to add,if anyone tried to run over the border at Hendaye to avoid the Basque traffic police,is it correct that the French and Spanish have an agreement legally to stop an offender in France,if he/she was on the run, wasnt this brought in years ago,as ETA terrorists were hiding in the Pyrenees in France near the border,i know a speed limiter is not relevant to ETA`s campaign, but i can imagine the Gendarmarie chasing me down the road, and escorting me back to their neighbours at the border Gestapo.Similar to UKBA working on French soil for the Channel tunnel, and the French Police working in Dover Port and at the tunnel, was it Maggie Thatcher that signed an agreement to that affect.Juradiction.It would be very tempting to escape to the border, but im sure there is CCTV on any trucks they have stopped.

Kerbut, that is correct,i lost count on how many got nicked for headboards being lit up,they didnt like company names on them either, was is to do with competition and trade,or just a money earner, you may recall the blue/yellow squares or triangles that had to placed on the front of Portuguese trucks, they were lit up,it was law,to say they were a long vehicle in Portugal.

I`m with the “locals” on this one, you gotta get it right whilst in Spain, we used to transit Spain en route to Portugal + Maroc, from my knowledge, we never got fined, and after a bit, never got stopped. mid you, we were using pretty basic M.A.Ns / Magnums, no fancy lights to attract the moths :unamused:

I always found the RHA International department very useful in pre warning you of the latest purge that was coming up :open_mouth:

That said, I`ve got a couple of enquiries for Spain + Germany on the go, my only worry, is a couple of snow induced infringements that were unavoidable, two going over my 4.5, not much, but over, and, a couple of hours over my 90, will Francos army come down big time on these ■■?

Or, can I put my card in the wash @ 60c :bulb:

the blue and yellow squares and triangles were on spanish trucks some years ago toby you must be showing your age
as for the OP you did something wrong you pay the fine, just imagine if it had been in the UK VOSA would have a field day crawling all over your fleet and charts trying to get you before the commisioner for something :imp:
anyway us foreigners have to pay for offences in the UK now so all’s fair in love and war

What were the bright orange diamond shape stickers for on the top of Spanish cabs, they would have two letters, like a representing the local area, like M for Madrid,MA for Malaga, etc, etc, the sun would fade them too much to a point where the plod could not see the stickers.

they are as you guess representing the area the licence is held and different colours mean different things
red diamond general licence
white diamond restricted to own products
blue diamond post and parcels
no letters generally means hire vehicle or national licence with different areas

One more thing, he wasnt speeding, he didnt get stopped for speeding, it was a roadside check and they got him by plugging the limiter checking machine into the tachograph, like they do on test, and , im not the mesiah, im a very, naughty boy…

I can´t help thinking what the response on these forums would have been were it a foreign truck stopped for the sameoffence in the UK ? it would probably have been plastered all over the front pages of the papers and there would be a campaign started to get the driver and operator banned from entering the country ever again :unamused:

Now where it is a UK truck abroad and it suddenly turns in to the hard done by story and wanting to appeal and wait 3 years fir the process.

The truck was sent down knowing the limiter was not working a chance was taken and they got caught ok fair enough we have all taken chances at some time or another and you pay up and grit your teeth.

You want to appeal ok feel free I hope you have good legal insurance because the legal fees are going to be horrendous and you are going to be found guitly anyway the 3001 euros is the minimum that they can fine you for that offence so when you appealand it goes to court you can guarantee that it will probably double.

So pay and stop getting on your high horse you took a chance you lost so either pay up or forget the truck simples

It’s not often we agree Paul, but bullseye there. I’ve exchanged PMs with Richmond in the past but don’t know the man, but between this and the flagging out to avoid scrutiny from VOSA threads I do wonder :unamused:

There are some real double standards on this forum, and I can’t help thinking that the man doing trips for Astran absolves him of any censure in some people’s eyes :bulb:
