Fined for being early

Terry T:
Yep, my replies vary but I’ve always got something sarcastic to say to them. Telling them you fell asleep on the services is a good one, the look on their poor faces

I often say I had to pull over for my prayers

[Its little wonder that drivers a fed up with all this CRAP, And looking for other employment, :unamused:

KNOW HOW /GXO claim that if the delivery is eary they get a “FINE” as per thir contract agreements which makes me think who the hell agreed that…!!
the apparent reason is that there may be not enough staff to take in the delivery which in my experience is total bo-lux as staff inevitably get called away to serve front of shop so delaying the unloading

Best way get round it get there early then pull up to barrier gate and just sit there and wait in your truck allowing a qué to build up behind you…then dead on time get out slowly walk over to security. Take as long as possible having a chat arrive at goods in and explain you was at security on time.
Security guy kept me talking

It will be the supplier who agreed it, and they debit their account accordingly, it has nothing to do with the driver, and normally does`nt effect the haulier either, and if it does, you amend your T&Cs / Rate to accommodate the situation

The easiest way to sort this out on arrival, is play along with the canteen medal operative and just shrug your shoulders and claim you were told XYZ time which, if the driver has an ounce of intelligence with be in the next 15 mins of your arrival…It is`nt the drivers problem FFS :unamused:

Anything run by DHL I would not put it past them charging hauliers. All their sites are a pain. I go to the Cannock site for collections. I always loose the will to live. I find the smaller companies very good for delivering. I turned up the other day with a container 7 days early. They were waiting for the goods and we’re happy I turned up.

DeadHeadLogistics sites are only as good as the management on said site, we are busy with one of their new sites and so far so good, but that is because none of their big beasts have turned up yet according to those that seem to know the score.

Apparently these top management types like to really throw their weight about and love to stamp their mark on the operation, which normally starts with security, then H&S ect ect :unamused:

As much as I despise Amazon for various reasons their delivery policies are spot on. I make regular deliveries to them and we have like a 4-5 day delivery window, any time of the day or night.

Just a pity that when you do get in, their rules are so naff and apparently I need a babysitter giving me instructions on how to drop a trailer. I had one guy a few moths ago got all excited when I was dropping my trailer. He insisted I turn my engine off. I said it is off. No it isn’t he said. I told him it was my fridge running that he could hear. He wouldn’t believe me and insisted I took my keys out the ignition to prove the engine was off.

I just ignored him from this point and carried on with my business. No one died so it was all good.

There’s not a lot of consistency between Amazon sites, I have found. That interaction sounds like a reasonable one to me. They won’t be used to fridges running, so they won’t know what they are.
There’s one site that insists I hand over the keys before they check the seal at the exit gate!

I was banned from Amazon Tilbury once because I refused to hand my keys to the babysitter whilst I jumped in the trailer to put a strap across the back.

What caught me off guard what that my manager sided with me!

It’s reasonable for him not to realise the engine noise he can hear is my fridge. I can get down with that. But when I explain the noise to him and even point at the fridge and he basically insinuates I’m lying and still demands my keys, that’s not reasonable to me. I didn’t give him the keys. Nothing came of it.

Was this not a Tesco thing years ago ? I remember being told not to turn up early by company , but then my understanding was they( tesco ) fined for early / late , company fined tesco for over 2 hrs there & no one paid anything , it was just all politics .
