Finally let em get to me

Delivering to Morrisons Northwich this week, and lost my rag for the first time in 20+ years driving and almost slotted the shunter driver and security jobsworth.

Now, when I think back, part of me feels angry for allowing them to get to me, the rest of me feels I should of floored the gobby turds!

I went in, 08.15, for an 8.20 booking. There must of been 20 trucks there when they all just buggered off for a break for half an hour. Went to hand my notes in, confronted with a 12" x 12" window with a girl who just pointed to the tray, not a word spoken. Ordered (not asked) to hand my keys to forklift driver, even though I wasnt even in cab, but moving curtains and posts for him. Then ordered by yardman to go round corner to do up my curtains, even though it was lashing down and blowing a gale. Did so, and built trailer up ready for Tesco Middlewich next job (which is a pain in the harris!) Then, because I had been there so long waiting (and for got to put tacho on POA due to a chatty and very funny Wincanton driver) I needed a 30 min break. 20 mins into this break yardman came with my notes and told me to move…yard was getting full by now. So, I was a little peeved, but stayed where I was and finished my break.

Then came the fun…I pulled up behind the queue waiting to get out. Anyone who has been there will know that Morrisons trucks and delivering trucks use same gate, and Morrisons drivers take forever to get out having seals checked etc. There was a Morrisons waiting to pull out on my right into the queue, stopped at a give way sign as he should. I pulled past him so he couldnt get out, not to block him, but to allow trucks coming in to get passed.

Well…the turd-burglar driver behind him had a fit…ranting and raving in his cab, flicking all manor of hand signals at me, even though I had done nothing wrong. Anyway, I had had enough and jumped out of my cab to go see what he wanted, he came at me slavering that he had been stuck there 10 minutes and this and that and Stobart B’s and W’s. I told him to shut his stupid mouth and get back in his cab, and he started bumping into to me…and at this point I almost put him on his arse, but thinking better of it, politely and calmly told him if he had a problem with me, I suggest he follows me out into the car park and we could sort it out properly there? He declined and drove off chuntering!

Was now fuming so just drove up behind the truck waiting at the gate and blocked the whole yard off. Jobsworth then comes sauntering across the yard back to his hut and i heard him say “Oh another bright lorry driver”…so, I pulled up at his window, threw his gate pass at him, and in no uncertain terms told him how proud his family must be of him bringing home £150 a week for a mere 70 hours work…and that if he had been doing his job instead of making cups of tea non of it would of happened. Guess what…never said a word, just stood there in dis-belief that somebody dare undermine his “authority”!!!

Pulled up outside to see if “shunt” wanted another go…but he disappeared down yard…going for a coffee I think with the hand gestures■■?

When I calmed down I rung my gaffer and told him what had happened to cover my back, and he said he would ring Northwich and report them both…which I thought was good of him!

I go to work to earn a living for me and my family…why should we have to put up with crap like this? Seriously made me think of getting out of the game for the first time since I started anyway…

…and I certainly wont be shopping at Morrisons anymore

Perhaps you’ll be banned form there, then you don’t have to go again ?

Similar thing happened to me once…i was delivering cakes to bread dept(turn right at gatehouse) anyway i was waiting to get out as there are 2 queue’s waiting to get out they’re supposed to let u go one ata time from each queue! BUT OH NO!!! not this wannabe dustman, he was letting everyone go, both outside drivers and morrisons from the other queue, after about 7 had gone(maybe 5) i lost it, blasted air horns at him and moved forward at great rate of knots!!!

His mate then dropped the barrier on me, asked me what the [zb] i thought i was doing, i told him that i had other drops and didnt have the time to waste whilst he let everyone else out!

I was then told to reverse and wait my turn, i explained AGAIN it was my turn 4 trucks ago, and that if he didnt open the barrier, i’d get out, drop him and drive straight thru it!

Guess what…the barrier got opened and better still I GOT BANNED!!!

Unfortunately not for life as am going back in there again!!!

What about this for a laugh…chilled section…30 boxes of cake…10 mins to tip…2hours for notes to come back

the mozzies drivers have to be first out because the trucks are limited to 50 mph they need all there driving time to get there jobs done

True, true. You’ve only got to be in the region of Burton Latimer to find the road cluttered up with Morrisons trucks, unless of course it’s a subby pulling the trailer, then things are a tad different :grimacing: :grimacing:
But back on topic, problems with these jobsworth tossers are getting more and more prevalent by the day, and things ain’t going to improve any time soon. One of the places I go to is a case in point, a whole lot of form filling just to go in there and change a compactor, even wanting your trailer number ffs! My mate went in there solo the next night and they insisted on a trailer number
There you go, at the end of the day it’s put up or shut up, just wait for an opportunity to serve some of the same crap back to 'em prefferably with a bit of embelishment.

I symaphise with you all, I’ve lost it with these pricks more than once.

The thing that gets me is just why they are so obstructive? It seems as though eveerybody is so angry nowadays, now I know the odd driver is a bit bolshy, maybe because they’re now destined to a night out or a day without dinner because they’ve been held up at the delivery point, but that’s a whole different story, most drivers are a decent enough sort, but get treated like ■■■■■■ from the time you pull up at the gate until you leave there is somebody trying to antagonise you, WTF is that all about? Not all places are like this, but they are in the minority, it doesn’t matter how civil & polite you are, they talk to you like you had just mugged their granny  :unamused:

Morrisons coming in for some stick this week. :open_mouth:

OP, I know exactly where you are coming from. You were right to lose your rag because most drivers don’t stand up to them (me included) but i’ve been there where you regret allowing them to make you angry as half the time this is what they are looking to do, make you lose your cool.

The main reason why some people act like pricks and treat drivers like ■■■■■ is because they get off on feeling that they are above you in the food chain and can order you around with no manners “considerably more important than you”. This approach makes their sad lives that little bit more fulfilling in their deluded world.

99% of the time, I let them get on with it and I don’t care how they treat me as long as I’m angling toward the exit in the shortest time possible. If you react to them they will more than likely make your day harder and then the only way of rectifying the situation is to do something illegal which let’s face it is more hastle than it’s worth nowadays.

Is it a coincidence that since Tony B liar and his union supported government took office, things have steadily gone downhill, so unless you are part of the “union clique” that dominates our everyday life, get used to it, fight against it, or better still emigrate, cause this country is screwed.

The first thing to do in these situations is to take note of peoples names and the next thing to do is write to the CEO of Morrissons.See what happens.

Just smile sweetly, be polite, don’t let them see that they are getting to you! I used to jump out of lorries, with threats of pulling peoples heads off and getting stressed, now I find it is them who have the problem, and I can hurt someone more with a few chosen words then with a baseball bat.

Or simply kill them :stuck_out_tongue:

I find it that if you ask them if theyd like to meet your friend “WINDING HANDLE” they quickly back off… SOme are pure ■■■■■■■■ were all there to do a job, but some go way beyond.

This forum is more influential than I thought,

“What about this for a laugh…chilled section…30 boxes of cake…10 mins to tip…2hours for notes to come back”
"…and I certainly wont be shopping at Morrisons anymore "
“The first thing to do in these situations is to take note of peoples names and the next thing to do is write to the CEO of Morrissons.See what happens…”

Marc Bolland, chief executive of Wm Morrison, broke his silence on Thursday on his decision to jump ship to Marks and Spencer (LSE: MKS.L - news) as the Bradford-based supermarket chain reported a slowdown in sales growth.
Although he would not go into details about his decision to leave Morrison after protestations that he was committed to the group, he said that the chief executive position at M&S was an “an opportunity that passed by that I could not miss”.

I hear you brother many a time Ive felt like flooring someone playing silly buggers with me, you just have to bite your lip and play silly buggers back. Don’t raise your hands or use abusive language as its the fastest way to get the sack, especially if you’re on for a big company like stobart where a driver is just a number and not a person.

I recently bought a punch bag and spend 30 minutes every other night knocking the ■■■■ out of it, keeps you fit and i find takes your stress away. Or you could just go on the happy pills :grimacing:

Don’t let the ■■■■■■■■ grind you down

There are two types of security personnel, i.e. gatemen.

  1. The first type are basically jealous, because we drive a shiny truck, tend to look down on them from our cabs, laugh and talk to other drivers and generally seem to enjoy ourselves. So they like to share their misery with us of being stuck in a over large garden shed, where the sun never shines and it’s always raining.

  2. The second type tend to be embarrassed and take pity on us, because we have to work and sleep in a 7’ x 5’ tin box (unless you drive a Stralis  ), without proper facilities, sleeping in lay-bys, eating poor food and paying for the privilege and some nights not being tucked up in bed with our loved ones  They tend to be nice, asking if you want a brew, letting you use their restrooms and showing you where to go, generally going out of their way to make your “short” visit as pleasant as possible.

Sadly the first type are in an increasing majority and the second type are a decreasing minority

Perhaps Trucknet should have an annual award for “Best Security Personnel of the Year” O.K. TAXI!

From my experience ive found it best to ignore em and get on with it, makes em look like the (zb) that they are and you feel better that you haven’t stooped to their level. When you retaliate you lose, especially as most of em are cowards who’ll try to get you in a whole load of (zb) by calling up your boss

None of you have to get angry in these situations, all you have to do is wind them up, play them at their own game, look at the body language, listen to the tone of voice, then just wind them up with the information that you have

And if all else fails, tell them that they have made you feel angry and that you may not be responsible for your own actions they continue to treat you in an uncivilised manner, you have now warned them.

If it gets really bad, just tell them that your psychiatrist has told you that you really shouldnt be interacting with others just yet, but that you thought you would give it a try as the probation officer said it couldnt really get any worse that it was…I have done these things, it is best when they start to laugh, thinking that you are having a laugh, you have to remain straight faced and ask them in a sinister way “What are you laughing at?..It is making me feel very uncomfortable”
:grimacing: :grimacing: Makes my day go with a laugh and I have some good tales to tell the missus when I get in from work  :sunglasses:

Wound up some TSG Officers this week at my local snack van…That was well funny

I have been into Morrisons at Wakefield a few times, now is it me or are they good most times in and out in under an hour    And people who are civil and friendly

Mmmmmm…RDC’s, I remember them :imp: give me a farmyard covered with 4’’ of ■■■■■ anyday :grimacing:

having been on the other side of things I can understand why drivers get treated the way they do, not all but some treat the security guys like scum of the earth, the comment
“…so, I pulled up at his window, threw his gate pass at him, and in no uncertain terms told him how proud his family must be of him bringing home £150 a week for a mere 70 hours work…”

just means to me that some drivers feel because they are on better pay they should be treated like a god, end of the day you forgot to change your tacho to break because you were having a laugh? you then took your break but then moaned about a security guy or other depot staff having their break?
you also say yard was nearly full but you did not move your truck to allow others to meet their tipping times?

we ALL have families to feed some folk choose to become a driver some security ect for alot of ex forces guys there is no other option other then driving or security.

I have 15 years security management experience and 10 years driving, i now drive as I can afford to have a LOWER paid job and like the more or less stress free life.
