Yes. Assuming it’s the one with a clutch pedal, don’t rush the gear changes or the machine gun rattle will go off and give you neutral, usually half way across a junction or roundabout. Just remember to take your time.
Auto box is a doddle. Good luck on your maiden voyage.
As damoq says, if it’s the 1 with the clutch pedal, nice and slow, no rush, you should hear 2 clicks, 1 as it changes to neutral and another as it selects a gear. Approx 2 seconds to change gear +/-
I used to use the flappy at the front (half gear selector), so it’d set off in 3, 4 flappy ups and it’s in 5 when you press the cutch, just using the forward / backward selects ‘an appropriate gear’, ie the wrong one.
I remember the first time I heard the machine gun rattle…no sod had warned me about it either…lol
Didn’t help it was night and ■■■■■■■ down with rain…classic…
BTW, what is the point in having a clutch in an auto ■■? Still don’t get it…

At Cobleys we had a 53 reg Scania, It was automatic as in it had R N A M but also a clutch pedal, Used to have to dip the clutch only when moving off or stopping, caught a few people out did that.

One of those pulled up alongside me at Canal garage one night, managed to stall it when stopped. Made one awful noise
