Fh4 gear buttons

Is it me or are those gear selector buttons on dash in stupid place on volvo fh4 ,i find it real pain

Have Volvo changed the placement of the gear selector, mines on the seat.

Gearbox Buttons on the dash is a extra option.
The idea of this is to create more space for cross cab movement.

It’s about time truck designers fitted flappy paddles in the steering column.

most trucks had flappy paddles for years

The poxy Merc I drive has them

Is this the same one that has a button on the dash for the handbrake? Not that automatically releases when you barely touch the throttle? That takes a bit of getting used to!

Yes no gear stick or paddles or stalk just buttons stupid idea and yes stupid button for hand brake that you put on but still says not applied for 3 seconds so keeps pressing just to make sure.

Yeah, buttons on the dash is carp, gotta look down to change gear. [emoji849]

Oh for an LAD cab with the shoulder busting gear lever. What’ll you think of to complain about next?

We’re not complaining as such Peter, just pointing out that it isn’t the best as you have to take your eyes off the road to look down at the dash to change gear and if you’re having to change gear manually then it’s more than likely a situation where you shouldn’t be taking your eyes off the road to look down at the dash.

We all know back in the day that you old hands were Eaton twin splitter wizards who slept on a plank across the seats in sub zero temperatures, set fires under the diesel tanks in the mornings and ate gravel for tea and gruel for breakfast. [emoji106]

It’s to make the experience more like driving a Dennis bin lorry

Nah, totally wrong. Never drove a twin split. No plank and it was so cold you couldn’t get a flame out of a match… Gruel■■? I wish.

The official Volvo explanation is that its supposed to discourage you from using them. Ours are disabled and set to Eco3 so no power there.
