Just swapped over to a 63 reg Volvo FH12 which has a Volvo fitted TV mount. Will any TV fit or does it have to be Volvo specific ?
Yeah you can fit any TV to the bracket, I’ve got a 19" toshiba in mine.
Make sure you fit a booster for the aeriel that comes with it or it won’t work.
ok thanks, now to find a telly
How does the telly get its power,do I need to buy some sort of adapter ?
Looking for a tv with built in dvd player.

Depends if you can get a 12-24 v one with the little box on the cable if you can then get the cable and cut the plug off and make it so you can put it into the trucks cig lighter socket.
If you can’t as most TVs now only run off 24 v then you have to use an inverter.
Look on google type in “cheap portable TVs with built in DVD player” you can find 19 inch ones for around about £110.
the mounting bracket + wiring was done by Volvo. As far as I know its ready for a telly I don’t know what sort and how it all goes together.
I’m looking into getting the TV instilation kit from Volvo fitted myself as I’m going into a new Volvo FH from tomorrow. I’ve read it comes with all the wiring, mounting brackets and power supply. The sound comes through the sound system for the radio and you can fit upto a 19 inch TV.
I don’t know if the power supply comes from an invertor or through the 12-24 v sockets.
There is a 12v socket next to tv bracket
I am in work later so I will have a proper look.
I’ve got one of those 4 way extension leads stored in one of the top lockers which I use for the TV and the microwave.
The lead is hidden and runs down the back of the cab and into the passenger footwell where my inverter sits under the seat.
I use the 12v socket for the booster for the aeriel as if you read the manual it will tell you that it needs at least a 5amp booster box for the in built aeriel to work.
You can get one of these in maplins for about a tenner.
