Ferry strike calais --dover-30.11.06

HAVEJUST READ THE NEWS about the strike,

how is it effecting your travel plans, and are

you stuck on the M20 due to OP STACK,or

waiting to catch a boat at Calais,

how are the other ferry routes copeing

the tunnel it seems has a few problems due to

the extra traffic, what about P&O reopening the

zeebrugge route,as this is less likely to strike

at thedrop of ahat unlike the french at Calais,

any one out there on line stuck in the JAMS

FOR THE BOATS OR TUNNEL;

update, 1830hrs THE STRIKE ihas ended and

they reckon it will take about 8–12 hrs to clear

the back log, how is it that a strilke that does

not have any thing to do with the docks can

take over and control a commercial concern

and therefore cause untold damage in lost

revenue plus cause transport firms

to lose money as well,furthermore,

and also disrupte the road traffic that

much so people have difficultiy in geting to the

hospital, why do they let them get away with this

It will have been Calais Chamber of Commerce who have gone on strike, they do it regularly and as they are the people who tie the boats up when they dock it brings the whole thing to a standstill.

When the strike finished in Calais the Sea France workers went on strike so that will not help in getting the queues shifted

WHY do P&O not return to ZEEBRUGGE

and run to DOVER from there, with the new

boats it will be quicker and at least the

do not strike so often as the KERMITS.

and the strike that happened was

all because a cleaner lost his/her

job,What a farce ,

have just read that the OP STACK is still on as althoufgh

DOVER is open they are still haveing problems getting

the freight away,

It didn’t cause me any problems as I went via Luxembourg this time Pete, like you recommend.

No problems for me as I heard it on French Radio and sneaked off at St Omer and came at the train from direction Boulogne. It probably cost me half an hour extra :stuck_out_tongue:

I was amazed at how much traffic was stuck on the M20 though last night and all the overtime the coppers would be on
