Female instructors

I don’t know if this has been discussed before but I would be interested to know the views from truck net members if they turned up for training and their instructor was female.(keep it clean please)

Paul

I see no reason to treat them differently. My examiner for cat c was female.

I used to employ a female instructor until she was poached by a very large haulier as their training officer. She was brilliant in all respects. Fellas had no issue with having a female instructor. She had a name (cant really use it on here) that was the same as a male name. So I would say to a candidate “just take a seat xxxx will be with you shortly”. No doubt they all expected a male 6 footer. What they got was barely 5 foot of Geordie woman.

Their face sometimes dropped visibly on introduction. But, when they came back in for a break, the comments were always extremely positive.

I would employ another woman instructor without hesitation provided they were suitably qualified, experienced and really knew their job.

In fact, I wonder if she’s happy with her job■■?

Pete

As long as they can do their job properly, any right minded person shouldn’t have a problem with it, you’d hope by now that the caveman mentality would have disappeared, but no such luck

I am shortly to train my daughter to pass her truck tests, she wants to go and work in the haulage industry for a few years to gain experience. Then hopefully come into the business.

I am merely doing a little market research. Thanks for the comments.

Paul

Seems a perfectly logical progression - - - as long as that’s what she wants to do and not just your idea.

I have two daughters (very grown up now) and neither has anything to do with the business. I used to regret that but they have found their own very good careers and I’m extremely proud of them both.

My advice, Paul, is to encourage her but don’t push. And I sincerely hope it works as you wish.

My first ever large vehicle training was with a local bus company. They had a couple of female instructors and it made no difference to the attitudes of the trainees. My Class 2 examiner was also female.
Makes no difference to me.

Don’t take this the wrong way but it would look more proffesional from a training company if you chose the correct words in your posts

Yes your right we do all make mistakes but I’me not trying to entice people to part with their hard earned money at my training school am I.
If it was a post in any ordinary thread I would of ignored the mistake.
:unamused:

We are the only training company that uses Chelmsford test centre that doesn’t have a female trainer. Obviously I meet them all from time to time for the tests and they all seem to get plenty of passes.

I have a son who has held both cat CE and D for a while now and hopefully will want to get into it one day but not while he is contracting on the underground.

Dont we have a female instructor on here Wendy ( mothertrucker )

Both the examiners at Newcastle test centre are female both called Linda as well
