Have been tramping on/off for 10 or so years now never had a problemI do plan where I am stopping mind or try to & yes have driven past places as didn’t want to stop there just be very sensible about it & don’t worry too much I have very really stopped in a services or lorry park prefer t stop in lay by industrial est etc but each to there own
I don’t carry a weapon as such although I do have some knives in the cab as I self cater also have a stanly type knife if nee to strip a pallet down or remove some shrink wrap
As I have said I am not the tallest being 147 cm ( 4;10" ) not that heavy either in 45-50 kg ( 8st ish )
Driver hire are an agency they wrk different in each area they are in
Not sure bout the CF but have driven an XF a dew times
I hope you don’t drive a CF, you’d not be able to see over the wheel!

I think tramping would suit me, I’m defo not doing multi drop. ?Don’t shut the door on any type off work, I used to do multi drops(groupage) on artics, would have anything upto 10 drops going out, Maybe the first was 200 miles from base then the rest were all in that rough area, have most done on day 1, day 2 clear the trailer then reload could be full load or multi collections, or into local depot top out with groupage for onward delivery to anywhere UK or Continent. once empty the merry go round would start, enjoy
I just think it’s too stressful for me.

The CF makes 6ft+ guys look like midgets behind the wheel! Never driven an XF myself though.

If its 30+ a day then maybe but I’m on multidrop but a hard days work for me is 5 deliveries and maybe 3 collections. Some days like last week I had only 4 drops and I was parked up before 4pm! My jobs as its sticking points but it does have its perks!

Tramping is a doddle. But you need to be of a certain mindset. Are you completely happy with your own thoughts, company and music?
You might go a few days on end only hearing the grunts through the goods in window of RDCs.

Well DAF is a Dutch make, as I am. I’m 6’1" which is average height for ladies in The Netherlands so you can imagine designing trucks they tend to take the average height for men which probably is around 7’ or something [emoji1]
