Was reading in my local paper today about the new railway they are talking about at felixstowe container port.
I run a couple of trucks based at ipswich doing agricultural haulage and have never ventured into felixstowe docks but was just thinking the trains would mean a massive loss of work for hauliers.
Wow what a negative thread!
I hope i missread it and it wont have that much of an impact
A lot of what they say in the press is there to please the treehuggers. You wouldn’t believe the amount of containers on the train that are empty, for repositioning empty boxes around the country and into different ports.
As only about 8% of the freight in this country is moved by rail and the network struggles with that, all they’ll do is move the boxes so they can be put on a truck somewhere else.
