If I get an RDC deliver, my current tactic is to inform the gate that I’ll be leaving in an hour to do other drops. If they’re not prepared to unload under those conditions, then they obviously don’t want the delivery that badly
I’ve got to agree, that’s the best thing about multi-drop on rigids. Years ago when I was still doing parcels in a 15-tonner, we just used to write “ranked up” on the paperwork and take it away again…
Sadly you can’t do that with a full-load on an artic…or even a part load if your drops are further apart. A full trailer is a full trailer, and until it gets tipped there’s nothing you can do with it. …another reason why containers tend to get seen to far more rapidly - you can get a box lifted off at the nearest storage yard and then charge them £50 a day to look after it until it gets redelivered (also at a price.)…
You’ve got to hand it to the shipping lines, they’ve stuck together on this one in a way that the hauliers never have, and in a lot of places it’s paid off.
Crushed ice, I was on distance work for about 18 months and the same happened to me, I got so fed up with being treated like a 2nd class citizen, that I went back to my old job…Driving 8 wheeler tippers, wheres me tin at
I start work at 7 and im home every day without fail by 5 at the latest, do about 9 hrs a day and I earn more on tippers than I ever did working 15 hrs a day with 3 nights out a week.
Im sure theres plenty of quarries or muckshifting operators in your area, give some a ring theres plenty of work in this field at the moment.
